No, you see we actually enjoy watching UK and don’t act like idiots on every post. We actually are fans of the program and not imposters who act like they are fans. 1000’s of posts don’t lie.
You may be the King of Hyperbole on here. Your "we are fans" comment holds absolutely no water. You have no more proof of random than I or anyone else here. Go play on that merry-go-round over >>>

and goes to a zone at least 50-50. We have guys getting beat left and right off the dribble. It’s been going on all year and it’s why we let teams back into games.
The fact we let teams back into the games is not our man to man defense. It is the fact we take bad shots consecutive trips down the floor and bad shots usually lead to good shots for the other team.

Zone sucks. It's insane every year ppl think this is a magical defense that just shuts ppl down. The only time you should run zone is if you cant rebound or are in foul trouble
I would agree to run it if we are in foul trouble. But zone mostly isn’t played to benefit rebounding. Most often it is harder to rebound out of a zone because you have to find your man to go box out.

our first zone look we gave them there was a guy wide open in the corner and he missed. 2nd time down the court we defended extremely well. Edwards took and made a highly contested 25 foot shot and that was it for Cal. As I have stated in other threads it will only take one made basket to get cal out of zone and he proved me right tonight.

Just simply no logic in his thinking that he can watch the other team score 10 straight trips in MTM and isn’t bothered by it in the slightest but one made tough jumper against the zone, ABORT!!!! And again why he will never win another natty with this philosophy....and I hope like hell he proves me wrong but I won’t hold my breath.
sooo, you wanted him to wait until they cored 10 straight instead of 6 straight.
Maybe it wasn't the edwards three, but just the movement in general

who says they score 10 straight. We don’t know and we will never know because he simply will not vary from how he wants to play regardless. We saw how our zone worked against Arkansas. Guys are going to make shots and hit shots, it’s inevitable. Cal had no problem with Edwards scoring 13 in the 2nd half against Man but one made 3 from him against a zone was just too much.

Who plays zone even 30% of the time?

I mean I don't mind throwing it in every now and then to throw teams off or maybe like Arkansas when we are in foul trouble, but it's not ever going to be a main part of our D........just like it's not a main part of defense for the majority of the 356 D1 teams.

If I recall correctly, I am on Social Security and Medicare, Georgia played a whole lot more zone than we did. They gave up 89 points and lost the game. Just an observation.

If you can’t stop a team from getting to the rim at will and scoring from layups and easy putbacks then your chances of winning diminish greatly. Hitting a long contested 3 pointer is a whole lot less likely to go down as opposed to a point blank look at the rim.

but a 2-3 zone IS NOT to be used as a defense that has long contested threes...teams will usually get decent (to good, looks at threes) against a 2-3 Zone...
they hit two threes in a row...but you want them to see if they can give up more... that makes no sense
obtw...didn't we win?

they did not hit 2 3’s in a row. They missed a 3 from the counter before Edwards hit his that was extremely contested. Yes we did win but OBTW didn’t the zone help win the Arkansas game. It’s not as if other teams don’t get open looks from 3 when we are playing MTM, they get plenty. I prefer MTM and if you are locking a team down there is no reason at all to switch from that but what Cal has demonstrated is that it doesn’t matter, his team can be getting murdered, like for 56 points in a half murdered and he will not do a damn thing about it but sit and watch his team lose.

The bottom line is teams have killed us in 1v1 matchups all year. Maybe 50-50 zone to man isn’t the right answer but 30-70 or some ratio in that range. This isn’t a team with a lot of strength and zone will also help our rebounding woes.

It’s funny how people can watch the same game and reach completely different conclusions.

And it is a misconception that playing zone necessarily improves a team’s rebounding. If you don’t move your feet and block off in the paint and get to 50-50 balls, you won’t be a very good rebounding team regardless.

If you allow teams to stretch you and create massive space you’re gonna get beat off the dribble and have big time rebounding issues. It’s been happening all season. It’s a big reason we ve lost to far inferior teams smaller than us.
