Some folks who say “we can never get so&so as a head coach” need to have a come to Jesus meeting. We easily could throw $3MM or more at a BB coach now....IF...IF...we will.

A LOT of Good coaches would take our gig especially since they would get 3 yrs bare minimum meaning they’d gross $9MM.

It all comes down to “IF” IB and company want to. Money is NOT an issue now.

How many programs that aren’t elite are paying Head Basketball Coaches $3 million? Heck, how many elites are paying over $2.5?

Please give school names.

Thanks for the salary info. I had no idea there were that many morons running Higher Education institutions, paying insane salaries to basketball coaches. Makes me dislike basketball even more.

Almost nobody has the next coach lined up before they fire their coach. We did with Howland, but that's the exception. We wound up with Rick Ray because Stans badmouthed us to every coach we might have wanted and our AD made a stupid decision to get us out of the AAU game.

We should do what SEC schools have historically done:
Wait and see what mid-major goes nuts, and plays like their hair's on fire and gets to the Sweet 16 based on two games worth of amazing guard play, or an unexpectedly robust defense that frustrates whatever "big name" program is CLEARLY not all that interested in being there.
Then take that lucky SOB that coaches them, and back the Brinks truck up.
(now if you need me, I'm Googling Florida-Gulf Coast's record)
edit: OKAAAAY. Just looked at that coaching salary link (apropos of nothing, but goodnight is Mick Cronin getting PAID or what!). Clearly my "idea" was a holdover from the dark ages before that sweet, sweet SEC Network money came rolling in. Now the play seems to be poach a "known" coach from another big conference and hope lightning strikes twice.

$3 mill ? Is that big money ? Same line everybody said about the football coaching gig. We can hire anybody we want with $3 mill....lol

Really? We should hire a coach who was forced to resign as Cleveland Cavaliers coach in part because he called his players thugs? Or is that part of the reason you like him? Also, since this board seems to be adamant that any coach we hire in any sport has to fit our current players, his 3-point shot heavy offense would not work with the players we currently have.
