According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament will now be able to choose the location of its first two games.

This year's team is out of that. 2017-18 at the earliest. I like it for the fans but it won't help in any game situations. If the team is good enough to be the overall 1 seed they will smoke those first two opponents anywhere.

this really does not matter
it is not about where you are playing, but rather the other 15 teams in your region
until they come up with fair seeding, nothing is going to matter or change

When would the #1 seed NOT get the location it wants? Look at this past year.. all #1 seeds go to their preferred opening location. And IIRC, those opening locations are not tied to a specific region and can be moved.

So what does this really do? If Kentucky is the top seed, they would get Des Moines and then Louisville.. and I imagine that's exactly what they pick. It's not like you can pick your region.. where I'd argue that Kentucky might be better off playing out West for 4 games (stay there for 2 weeks and not travel a lot) and play garbage teams...

Either way, it puts control into Cal's hands and takes it out of the ****** SC. The less the NCAA touches, the better it is for Kentucky..

This is much ado about nothing. Top seeded teams don't need home court to get out of the first two rounds 99% of the time and on top of that they get the site closest to home 99% of the time anyway. Being able to pick your region would be meaningful but this is only picking the site of your first two games.

Isn't the first two rounds bound to two regions? You would have a 50/50 chance of your preferred region.

Also. Is the state of North Carolina doesn't let up on their transgender laws the NCAA won't let them host any post season play anyways. Schools are already backing out

I might be wrong, but I don't think that's the case. I think the first two rounds with the pod system are completely unattached from the regions.

They should let the #1 overall seed pick which bracket they want to be in after selections are made. This would really hurt Duke so they'll never do it.
