It's your website and ultimately, you can do what you want with it ... but even assuming the constant bickering should be prevented, I don't think it can be prevented. I alluded to it earlier in the thread, but turn on the television and political bickering is ubiquitous. Go outside and it's everywhere. If you go somewhere and people aren't bickering about politics, it's because everyone knows each other's politics and they are consciously avoiding each other. Go to a workplace in 2021 and you have either (a) uniform political ideology, (b) political bickering, or (c) silence because people are afraid of being fired. This isn't a Rutgers message board issue; it's an American societal issue. And to compound the issue, Rutgers University (and the Big 10) has shown proclivity to wade hip-deep into national politics, particularly involving the Athletics Department. The school itself has made it an impossibility to discuss Rutgers sports without discussing national politics (the clearest demonstration being the Covid 19 stadium rules).
You put the CE board behind the paywall. Before it was behind the paywall, the vast majority of political bickering took place over there and not the free football board.
