Just stating my opinion don’t think a top 25 team should lose this game

When you shoot 36 more shots than the other team and are within 3 with under 3 minutes left it’s not rocket science what the issue is. Has nothing to do with killer instinct. Every time we lose now you’re gonna post that we don’t have killer instinct? Wait...you also posted that after we win....

This team needs killer instinct.
Possibly my most despised cliche in sports.

Does "killer instinct" mean the ability to extend leads and put teams away? Yeah, really good teams can do that -- because they're really good. We are not really good, at least not relative to our competition in the B1G, a really good conference.

I think top 25 teams have killer instinct

no they don't...did SHU have a killer instinct when got blown out 31-13 in the opening minutes vs a team that lost 5 of 6. What about top 10 Nova losing at home to unranked Creighton

killer instinct is the wrong word here

I do not think killer instinct has anything to do with today's loss...odd take again

Bac

Actually ...I kinda agree

We came out of the half time down three and had Michigan on the ropes and didn’t give up a point in the first four minutes ...and we had great looks that we just didn’t finish ...and we only scored four and had a one point lead that we outplayed them by three or four more baskets instead of finishing

Would have been a much different game there if we had a 7 point lead there instead of 1...which we could have had

They fought their way back but they took so many low quality shots all game. 4 assists today. Way to many times guys tried to create their own shot.

When we did pass it to johnson, he wasn't in a great spot. Meanwhile, Michigan would reverse the ball, reverse it again and have an easy feed to the post, with teske in a stronger position.

remember the OP said RU lacked a killer instinct when we lost a 17 point lead to Purdue cut to 3 and won the game

Michigan had a 16 point lead and it got to 2....I wonder if their board is talking about how they blew the lead or are they happy they won.

I do not fear Northwestern. The thing with teams like Northwestern is that they are like RU in Pikes first year, pretty bad but play hard. What you want to do is just come out strong from the start and set the tone, you do not want to let them get comfortable because then they will be you..thats what happened at the RAC last year. So in some respects we will need to find that killer instinct to make sure Northwestern is handled at the RAC in a game where RU might be flat.

Both were odd takes, given all the comment on them being odd takes...

In many ways, this was not a neutral site..Michigan players have a lot more experience playing on this court. Teske and a few others were here when they won the BTT 2 years ago..also, i don’t think it is good strategy to pass to Myles when down with 2 min or less remaining. They will foul..the team was playing catch up all day today, so it had nothing to do with killer instinct..plus they were much too tentative, almost afraid to shoot at times. Once again Mathis had to jump start the team. JY’s defensive tenacity was outstanding. RHJ needs to drive more when the J is not falling..we get another shot at them. They will not shoot 50% from 3 at the RAC. We must get 3 of the 4 remaining home games (Maryland will be tough), then at least 1 road game, or 2 in the BTT

lack of killer instinct would be RU leading by 6-7 points most of the way and letting Michigan hang around and beat them in the end.

Exactly. Killer instinct is a defined term and today's let down does NOT qualify.

I think the OP is just trolling

Rutgers had 36 more shots than Michigan.Fans should expect that the team would make at least 8 of those shots which would be more than enough to win the game.Failure to finish around the basket and no go to scorer at crunch time were the reasons for the loss.Another winnable game away from the RAC results in a loss.

History will show that January was the glory days of Rutgers mens basketball.Sellout crowds, top 25 ranking and undefeated record at the RAC are monumental accomplishments. In contrast February may turn out to be the reality month because of the difficult schedule home and away. Some how and some way Rutgers must win at least 3 more games.
