You need 3 "Dudes" or "Go-To Guys" or whatever you want to call them. Someone who when you need a basket can go get you one.
Maybe Carr is that, IDK. I think Osobor would be one, if we get him. Maybe Oweh can become one. But I don't think we have one yet (unless Carr), even though I do like the additions so far.

I actually agree.

We need a couple of guys who can just go win us a game.

We had that last year but abysmal coaching got in the way.

Jeremy Roach would have been awesome.

Brea is awesome but not that type of guy. Brea is a guy you want to be your 3rd best player, maybe even 4th best player, on a title team.

We need to hit on some of these big fish (Osobor, Johnell Davis which is a longshot, Kadary Richmond, etc)

I think the staff has some tricks up their sleeve that they aren't advertising just yet, I have faith.

But yeah, we do need a few dudes to round this thing out.

Klay Thompson comparison iyo?
NO. Klay Thompson is a solid defender, multi level scorer. He is not just a behind the arc shooter. Klay Thompson his SR. year averaged 21.6 PPG / 5.2 rebounds / 3.7 Assist / 1.6 steals / 1 block per game. Also, averaged shooting 5.5 free throws per game. Not much less his JR. year Meaning he was aggressive with the basketball.
Brea on the other hand, averaged 11 per game, 1 assist, 3.8 rebounds per game. Averaged attempting 1.4 2FG and .5 free throws per game. He is not an aggressive player (less than a free throw attempted per game) does not get fouled and shot minimum 2FG per game. he is a 3 point specialist and that is all he will give you. Now, he does that very well (3 made per game), but do not expect huge numbers any where else.

Osobor yes. Brea would be a nice piece but he didn’t even start for Dayton last year.

I get what the OP is saying. We need a guy that could be all-conference. A Kadary Richmond or Johnell Davis. Osobor is a beast though. He’d fit the bill I think.
I will take a good quality guy off the bench.

Always desirable.

I think Great qualities or if not he would have to be seen as close then if we can put several near dudes out there like Brea, Robinson, and Carr with him we ought to be formidable. Add Oweh and Chandler with real chances to grow into such over the season and things start looking pretty nice.

While I think we can be competitive next year, I’m not sure we can be one of those teams able to compete for a title without having atleast 1 dude. Preferably a guard. I’m not complaining, I’m glad cow is gone and we have a fresh start and pope’s first season isn’t a be all end all, but I’m curious who is the dude out there for us to still get?
No I think we're all with you on this. Really please with everything but Championship teams do need that dog.

I'm starting to think that Darryn Peterson is the surprise. He may reclass and commit after peach jam this summer.

i’m going “meh” with needing a closer or a dude. these guys develop out of teams most of the time and you don’t know who it can be. we’ve had teams with 2-3 of this type and it didn’t get us what we wanted. look at dillingham last year. he closed several games, and i think we lost most of them.

If Cal had a "Dude", we would have hung #9 this past year. 5*s are the shiit!

The roster Pope is putting together is more team oriented. A dude isn't necessarily required. We will be fine.
Every championship team has a “dude” lol every single one. So yes we do need one. Maybe 2 tbh.

Perhaps we already have a dude already on the team. We don't know. Players can break out and become more than what they are expected. Happens all the time LOL.

What? Jaxson Robinson was easily BYU’s best player and Mark Pope didn’t start him? Is this real?

Correct. Pope, much like Cal, didn’t start three of his best players in Robinson Saunders and Traore.

Robinson moved to the starting lineup during the middle of the season and did really poorly.

He did start most of the games the year before though.
