This staff let several in state kids get away to big ten and sec schools. Many without any offers from us
Ah, yes. Staff should've known the #13 rated player in Nebraska was going to be so good.

Other school that offered Pieper... North Dakota St. That's it.

Off the top of my head:
Wyatt Liebentritt to Minnesota
Thomalla to Alabama
Braylen Warren to Missouri
I think the implication is that the ones we're not getting, even the ones we're not offering, end up having really great careers.

We don't know yet about the guys you listed.

Here is one. We could have used him for sure.

Benjamin Brahmer - Iowa State Cyclones Tight End - ESPN
That's a better example than the other 3. He would have been very valuable to the team now. However, would he be the player he is today if he came to Nebraska in 2023? I am going to firmly guess 'no'.

Also, for some context, Nebraska did offer Brahmer. Both staffs did. We were going through the coaching change from Frost/Joseph to Rhule. Rhule had a short time to put a class together and I can't blame Brahmer for not going to Nebraska. Beni Ngoyi also went to Iowa State with Brahmer. Rhule & Nebraska pushed for him as well. Zane Flores left for Oklahoma State, Kade McIntyre left for Oklahoma, Kade Pieper went to Iowa, and CharMar Brown went to North Dakota State.

Here's the 2023 Nebraska recruiting rankings for the state. Common theme....mainly busts, duds, and next to zero productivity outside of Brahmer and Brown. But hey, at least we got Malachi Coleman and Tristan Alvano from the class *eye roll*.

But Nebraska didnt let this kid "get away". Nobody other than Iowa & ND St thought he was worth giving a scholarship to.
Well once again we were wrong and our failure to offer helped Rivals and 247 be wrong which influenced other FBS D1 teams to be wrong. See how that works.

We might be well served to throw the bank at guys NDSU is offering. Appears their high school evaluations are better than ours.
Their talent eval is great for the level of play … what’s truly impressive is their development of said players. Also a place we could learn a lot of lessons. Frankly I’m surprised turning over position coaches and coordinators every year limits the development of players.

NDSU has had a ton of staff turnover too. Their coaches keep getting poached by P4 schools. Vigen followed Bohl to Wyoming years ago etc.

We didn’t miss on Brahmer

He committed to come play for Frost and then when he met Rhule he LOL’d and decommitted
His dad and him loved Frost and were pissed when we fired him. Not sure it would have lasted had he stuck with NU.

It’s funny that his public persona (way he dresses, talks, acts) is crafted for us to believe he’s a cool dude

but everyone knows he’s a fckin dork loser
Just like when he started here at NU...it was so clear he was given the "talking points" as to what to say to the fans...Which I totally get but it is just sooooooo lame.

Here's a hot take: Iowa has been turning anonymous 3-stars into draft picks for decades now. Don't get your panties in a bunch because the next guy in line is from Nebraska. He would've been the next Turner Corcoran at Nebraska.

The issue isn't that Nebraska isn't offering/recruiting the right guys. The issue is that Nebraska has zero ability to develop the guys we do get on campus. You think Minnesota and Iowa are better at recruiting? No, Nebraska could literally exchange rosters with those programs right now and they'd beat us with our own guys next season.

If your first favorite team (iowa, since you said your second favorite is NU) is putting a lot of guys in the NFL but never wins the conference, makes the playoffs or does anything of note...that is not a good sign.
You're desperate for my attention. I get it. Pass.

Somehow Iowa saw his potential and his home state team didn't? Seems about right.....

Come back when you make the playoffs. Should be this year - QB’s are studs!
How jealous are you that our O-line won the Joe Moore Award and our center won the Rimington trophy? Did you know that you guys told 40% of that line that they weren't good enough or big enough to play at Nebra?

I’m jealous for sure. How sad are you that even with that prestigious award you couldn’t crack into the playoffs. At least your starting QB for 2026 got some game experience against the National Champ - looked good too, so should be an excited bunch with high hopes this next year.
