I’m surprised we don’t have fan accusing the refs of having a small remote control device planted in the ball so they can disrupt our free throws by creating the Wobble Ball (TV reference). That way the officials can send the Cats to the line multiple times, make it look fair or even biased to UK, then screw the Cats anyway.

Here's a thread for you media types to share with your viewers: we are the Kentucky Wildcats. We have a fan base that is not generational but multi-generational. We didn't have a great stint like UCLA and Duke who won every title save one, by the same coach. We did it with Four different coaches in four different eras. We are not one hit wonders playing reruns like most of the former tourney winners who hang onto something accomplished thirty years ago. We have history and we are relevant. Three of our coaches have been the trend setters of their day. Rupp invented race horse basketball. Pitino resurrected a program without the medias help or a ton of five star talent. Cal was the "evil" genius ( not one thing evil about this man!) who took advantage of the NCAA's rules and created super teams with freshman players carrying th majority of the load. As the great Al McGuire once said, Kentucky basketball had it before you and they will still have it after you are gone."

Hate on us ESPN all you want to. Fill your booths with mostly Duke and UNC grads, but despite your disrespect for us we will still be here long after your careers are over and your TV stations have been sold. We have each other and that has been enough to carry on this great tradition that has spanned several generations. I like our chances to still be in the conversation for victory for the rest of my lifetime and my children's after me.

Referees, yes (at least some referees), and the NCAA President hates us. The rest, no.

Negative fans are hurting the program. Many of the things said about our players and Cal during the season helped and are still helping programs like Duke.

This statement is one of the greatest ironies in all of Kentucky basketball. If you tell our fans that they are largely irrelevant to the program, they cry. Loudly. They insist they are integral, absolutely essential, yadda yadda yadda. (none of this directed at you, Smash, its just that your statement was profound).

Then if you tell them they hurt the program, they cry. Loudly. They insist they are just talking, nobody pays attention, they are not relevant. Yadda yadda yadda.

Fact of the matter is, they can do absolutely nothing to help the program save supporting. Once the team is set, it is ballistic and outside their influence. Unfortunately, it is much easier to do damage. But the ones doing the damage can not be told this. They are crying way too much.

Deadspin, why don't you go to other basketball boards and count year long how many faithful viewers show up. With passion comes some emotional remarks. At least Stevie shows up and cares about his team. I don't agree with his conspiracy take but neither would I shame him. You think we are conspiracy theorists, but one view of ESPN's post after our loss and others posts concerning our players not shaking hands will give you a small taste of what this program and its fan base endures. At least CBS had enough integrity to clean up ESPN's error. If you're going to report on an over reaction after a loss, let me encourage you to come back next year and watch Stevie and others supporting the coach and team throughout the long season of freshmen growing into maturity. It's hard to be patient, but we are not a bandwagon fan base.

Both of these comments are spot on. I would also add Kenny Smith and Clark Kellog. Clark Kellog especially hates UK ever since Brandon Knight sent that dagger through his and Ohio St.'s heart in 2011.

I didn't read all of your post, but we have NC's with 5 different coaches. Pitino only lost his ul championship, ours is still valid.
