with about 330 left, Sarr was on defense, 1v1 with Castleton. Dude probably has about a 30% chance of scoring. But for some reason they decided to double down, leaving a wide open 3. I don't understand the double down, especially on a mediocre player.

You maybe right, who knows... I think we lost way before then. I think it was about the time I heard “GO GO GO” in over the announcers. It was sometime around mid first half. Things changed...

Story of our season. Florida needs a big bucket and drains a 3. UK has a few wide open shots at the end of the last few minutes and misses every single one but I think 2.

Could have just left it as, “we lost when askew....” pretty much the sum of the season. His inability to do anything as a lead guard has destroyed this team. He does nothing positive to help the team. I struggle to see how he could fix it in a year either.

Cal acts like he's never seen a zone before and made zero changes.
Our attack was flawed - they were playing a 3 man front - we attacked with a 3 man front- allowing UF to match up - everyone who’s ever played knows we go 2 man front at top 2-1-2 offense - corners are wide open (Allen in deep corner or Sarr short corner) No Cal goes 3-1-1 absolutely nutzo
Not only was attack flawed having Brooks in middle or Sarr both tremendously weak players who get stripped easily with no more than the bad breath of a Gator player

We lost the game because we couldn’t score at winning time( last 4 minutes) couldn’t in 15, couldn’t in title game agianst UConn, and haven’t at least 30 or 40 times during the Cal era. Cal is the worst late game coach I have ever seen. I think it is his inability to have more than one shooter on his teams that really hurts him. Tonight we tried desperately to get the ball to Mintz late but Florida was having none of it, and Cal had no other answer.

Yep. Said it in the game thread when it occurred. Just a dumbass decision.

I’m not saying this just as a knock on Askew. But, it seemed every time he went to bench(not often) we would go up a couple points, then Cal would put him back in and we’d lose lead.

I started noticing this in 2nd half and was hoping he’d pick up his 4th foul and have to sit.

It’s bad when a fan is pulling for starting PG to get in foul trouble.

When UF started switching defense every possession. Really confused our guys....imagine that huh
That’s one of the main positives of switching defenses. It keeps teams off guard and out of synch, and yet we almost never do it. Imagine that.

Not sure who called the double team but Castleton had scored twice over Jackson down the stretch.

I don't know whether Askew was told to double to perhaps force a turnover or we had no defensive rotation, but that was a bad play. If we force Castleton to throw a longer pass crisscourt because we rotated correctly, then maybe that wasn't the worst decision ever. But Askew doubling down and then trying to get back on his man at the 3 line was a lost cause.

Mintz choked. How many wide open 3's did he miss in crunch time?
