I know many think it is overblown but there is no reason to give an opposing team any extra motivation in the week prior to the game
It’s always a winnable game when it’s Purdue. Always.
I thought we hashed this out all last week… What was Frost supposed to say? He’s trying to keep his team afloat, trying to instill confidence in them. What should he have said? And please don’t say he shouldn’t have said anything…
This is a good point, but I still don’t see that what he said was that big of a deal. Obviously Purdue players and coaches latched onto it and made it a big deal, so it is what it is.He absolutely should have said he expects to win this game ... in the locker room, not at the podium. At the podium you can simply say we have a quality opponent this week which we need to be prepared for.
There is a difference between what you say in the locker room and what you say at the podium.

Enjoy your stay. I’m sure it will be short-lived.Except you lost by two scores.. we have 247 number one SSDE on his way.. I’m betting he will be a liiiiittle more effective than geo Reviere was yesterday

It makes you wonder what kind of life someone has if their goal is to troll other fans’ boards.![]()
But I'm sure he'll be back. It's about his 3rd or 4th reincarnation.
OP, you speak the truth. Folks don't always like it, but you're pretty spot on most of the time.
Welcome to the club of irrelevance. Hope you enjoy your stay. Looks like you'll be here for a while.I still don't get how that was "bulletin board" material. A 3 point spread isn't winnable? I guess that's the reaction you have when your program is, always has, and always will be irrelevant.
What's missing here is the context of the statement Frost made in the post-UM game press conference. First he said, Nebraska isn't ready to compete with a good team like UM. Then he immediately followed that by saying, "next week we have a winnable game." I've never heard a Purdue coach say anything so obviously disrespectful in that context, regardless of the quality of the next opponent. For those who are challenged in terms of interpreting conversational subtlety: Frost implied his next opponent (Purdue) couldn't compete with the one that just kicked his *** (UM)! Maybe so, in truth, but saying that to the media is the definition of locker room material for the next opponent. So you don't say it unless you have zero respect for the ability of your next opponent. Did Purdue win because Frost said it? I doubt it -- Purdue probably would have won the game, regardless. But did the Purdue players and coaches use it for motivation, to help them focus and sustain effort when trying to hold the lead in the 4th Q? Absolutely!
I would venture to guess many fans are like me who didn’t get the context. All I heard was frost saying it was a winnable game. I didn’t know the context.This. Not sure why Nebraska fans have had such a hard time understanding that the context, and not the statement taken out of context, made it disrespectful.
This was blown way out of proportions and kudos to the coach using it to motivate his players. Every thing Frost said was 100% truth, doesn't matter what context you try to spin on it. We weren't ready to play with Mich. We had winnable game. Lets face Purdue is no world beater this year and haven't been, ever. This was a very winnable game for Nebraska, especially at home. It is what it is. Like I said if your team was able to to use something so small and get motivation out of it, congrats. Maybe next time Frost should just say, this next team is going to put up 100 on us to make sure not to hurt the other teams feelings. What's missing here is the context of the statement Frost made in the post-UM game press conference. But this Purdue team was in fact 14 points better than you. By the way you’re into Purdue history.
In 1997, joe tiller showed up. Think Nebraska has been down in recruiting? Tiller might have had ten three star caliber players on his roster. The culture under Colletto was awful, causing tiller to kick double digit players out of town. His QB, Billy Dicken, has thrown for 1000 yards in two seasons.
He went 9-3. Put that in your pipe and smoke it while you throw frost a pity party. His best players were Brian Alford and Roosevelt Colvin.. remember that this week while you cry “frost can’t” “we’ve only signed 30 four stars the last four years”
Go back to Ohio States first title under tressel and I’d be willing to bet Ohio State hadn’t signed 30 four stars in four years
Bitter winner! highly doubt they make a bowl and good possibility there coach moves onYour team won, dude. Lighten up.

I'd like to see him say that to Frost's face, not behind his back as he walks away.
Why doesn't Purdue's Coach say stupid stuff to the media? Oh yeah, I forgot, there is no media covering Purdue football. The tree doesn't make a sound if there's no one there to hear it.
It was a dumb thing for Frost to say. I'm sure he learned from it. Meanwhile Nick Holt has been a Coach since 1986 and he's still the biggest jackass in football next to Bo Pelini. The funniest thing I've seen this season is that Purdue has a guy whose job is to hold on to Holt's belt to keep him off the field.

In terms of Brohm, pretty weak. His passive aggressive comment as he's walking away was skim milk too. Grow up and act like you've been there before. Oh wait...I still don't get this mentality. He was literally just stating a fact. How weak are people's egos these days?
I don't think he said it with the intent to disrespect anyone. It was more said as truth and a way to stay positive for the fans and the players. Although Purdue took it as disrespect and a direct attack on them. I can also see that as well. I am guessing Nebraska would have taken it the same way if situations were reversed. What do you mean “these days”? The lack of respect motivation card has been played successfully since the beginning of organized football. Football is an ego sport, why do you think every play is followed by preening, jawing etc?
You don’t provide bulletin board quotes period. Coaching 101. Or, as a wise man once said “your mouth is writing checks your *** can’t cash.” The irony is I’m sure Frost meant no disrespect, it just wasn’t stated well.
