At 12-3 (3-1) and 2 ranked wins I would say it would be unfair to call us a bubble team at that point (would only be due to previous seasons perception). That’s a team that’s in

This is why i dont do ncaa analysis this early. The Rutgers resume right now is still lacking compared to bubble teams around them. Ru has a great NET and that is a big boost going forward

We have 17 conference games to go. Any bracketology right now is inane banter

Actually I think its important to call us a bubble team. Do all the shows and articles talk about the projected six seeds? No its all about those just in and just out. Rutgers will be talked about for the next three months everywhere. Its exposure we could really use on many levels.

It all starts on Tuesday if we win.

It’s so early that the projections swing wildly with one game. A loss to PSU and we are off the bubble. A win and we are a 7 seed. Good news is that every game now starts to cement the trajectory. Waiting is over.

From OFFICIALLY being declared a bubble team. By everyone. Tuesday could be the biggest game of Pike's tenure here. A game where the perception changes everywhere.
I was gonna write a post similar to this making the point that this game feels like our first big crossroads game. If Rutgers loses, it is no big deal, since other games will come along this year and another crossroads game may come.

But if Rutgers wins at home to a ranked team and starts 3-1 in conference, I agree that you would start to have the first real buzz of postseason excitement with this program. Yes, there would still be 16 more games where many things could happen. More great victories. Bad upsets. But with a penn state win, you would have everyone get really excited for these 16 games to see the outcome. Who knows...the team could make the ncaas or it could fall short or fall very short. But we would at least be thinking about it and talking about it for the first time in over a decade.

Let’s pump the brakes on the tourney talk. It has been a long long time since we have been able to honestly go into every game knowing we have a legitimate chance to win. It has been a long time since every game was a fun game to watch. Most of the games we lose from here on out will most likely still be good games to watch. Let’s enjoy the journey and see where it goes. There is an expression used by driving instructors to student drivers that says you should not out run your headlights. Let’s do that now. Right now the only thing in the headlights is PSU. Focus there, enjoy the game, then refocus. This is going to be fun.

I agree. Let’s enjoy the game. If Rutgers falls short, move to the next game. But if the guys win it, then I think it opens the door to legit ncaa excitement. Not that we should expect to go, but the next 16 games have an added level of excitement. That’s all. Even if Rutgers wins on Tuesday I can’t expect them to make the tournament, but I can at least legitimately hope for a run at it. Even if they fall short and even make the nit, that would be a fun 16 games and a lot of hope and expectations built for next year

I hate PENN state.
Beating ranked teams gets you attention
I like witnessing exciting and crazy home game environments.
Beating a ranked team gets you a lot closer to making the tournament.
Rutgers has not made the tournament in a long time.

Therefore I conclude that Tuesday’s game is a big one.

All we need is Red Panda to bring the house down Tuesday.
Wait, seriously? She's the most impressive performer I've ever seen. This is my 4th game I'll be going to since Pike took over and the 3rd Red Panda show. Efficiency!

Let's make something clear, a bubble team is not a tournament team. I'm not saying if this is a tournament team. Yet.

However, I can make a scenario where if we win all the games that are easier wins than what would be the PSU win we are in.

I don't care what we call ourselves or the media calls us at this time. All I care about at this point in the season is to go out and win games, and I would love to beat PSU in R House after what happened at the end of last season. A 3-1 beginning to the B1G conference games is just icing on the cake.

Going into the season I expected this to be an NIT team in the NCAA conversation. That seems to now be a “base camp” for this season..I thought for us to progress we needed more “garbage buckets”. Myles is now tearing it up on that end with tips and slams..I was expecting an offensive breakthrough game from JY. He had that last week, and with Geo out for a while, could have a bunch of points/assists every game..AY is filling in the Eugene void, Harper showing NBA flashes, etc
Also the team is displaying a lot of confidence. If things continue, it should be very interesting on selection Sunday..

I did not say she will be there. I said all we need...… As far as RU marketing they have dropped the ball this year as in the past they announced what halftime entertainment is. Maybe its the Drums of Thunder? Who knows.

Right now my guess is we will all be sweating bullets on selection Sunday. Unless of course we happen to catch fire at the right time and happen to be playing in the game CBS will be televising just before the selection show.

After 29 years, and what the basketball gods due to torment us, I won’t stop sweating until I see our name on the screen and announced sometime between 6-7 pm on March 15

Why do I feel like the NCAA, committee, and world hate us and somehow we could win 22 games and still be left out for like a Texas team with 19 or 20

I wish our next game was someone other than State Penn. Seems like every time we are close to a breakthrough and play State Penn in our next game, they smack us back. Seems to happen in every sport. :Unhappy::Annoyed:Angry

Let’s pump the brakes on the tourney talk.

Such a wet towel...pump the brakes? F that. Let’s put the pedal to the metal!!

We are passionate fans with renewed hope. We are on a message board. I am going to talk about this team and how well we are playing as much as my fingers allow!

Beat State Penn! NCAA tournament or bust! Let’s go Knights!!!
