Fitz has gotten way too much slack because he's a fellow alum (at least for those of us that are). If this season falls apart at the least Cushing has to go.

A few more seasons like this and maybe it's Fitz time too.

Wow, the shine of that Purdue win on the road and last year's season sure wore off quickly...

Cushing should have gone last year. If this season falls apart, McCall gracefully retires and the o side is cleared out coach wise. Strong recruiting tool to offer preferred choice for OC would be staffing his coaches. Stronger would be PF turning over play calling and clock management. Maybe even Assoc HC. Then, invest in a staff equal to the facilities they built.

Yup. Lot of smokes and mirrors last season right down to the bowl game. Lucky to have more incompetent coach on the other sideline.

We have recovered from 1-2 start before, but the remaining schedule has me wondering if we have any chance of bowling.

Huh? Is this the NU board? Btw, did Mike Tyson ever lose? Cubs ever win the World Series? Did Trump become the POTUS?

**** happens. Outliers. Statistics 101

Have not idea what that means. Is Kirk Ferentz incompetent as well?

Regardless of last years shine our offensive play calling still sucked. We won in spite of it and of course Fitz never changed his course. He’s got a thick skull as we saw by him not taking automatic points these past two weeks, which totally changed both games. He needs to quit being so loyal and realize what we all know.

Teams don't win 9 games in a row in spite of anything, imo, they win them because they are good.

Last year always struck me as one of the luckiest NU seasons ever. We won games in spite of lots of of things, and it felt wonderful, but it seems to have enabled fans and coaches to convince themselves that some of our greatest weaknesses had been eliminated.

We haven't had a season yet. Fitz's seasons begin after the third game.

What recruiting? No OL in his right mind that has offer scholarships from stud schools would think about playing here under Cushing and killing any NFL chance whatsoever. That's the story. But most fans don't care and certainly Fitz' loyalty isn't a virtue on this matter. All the hard work of the players, all the money from fans, all the investment from the University, has done their part but Fitz allows Cushing to single handedly tear the life out of this program.

Cushing isn’t allowed to do anything. It starts and finishes with Fitz. He is the one that is accountable. At this point, it doesn’t even matter if Fitz feels Cushing is a great Coach, the perception around OL recruits is he isn’t and therefore he really has no choice but to replace him.

I meant recruiting a quality OC.

a) Purdue is 0-3 with a loss at home to Eastern Michigan
b) this is not last year's team, which won 10 games thanks to 3 coin-flip OT wins in a row and a defense which finished top-25 in scoring for the 3rd year in a row. The offense, which while statistically was the best since 2012, was still 57th in scoring and 95th in yards per play. McCall-led offenses have finished in the top half of the country in yards per play exactly once (2011) and top-50 in scoring exactly once (2012).
