Whited Death is among us in Memphis. Rain turned to ice a couple of days ago and snow/sleet mix since. With milk and bread raided in all shops what are you making to weather WD? Got me a nice chuck roast with veggies and enough beer to get me to baseball start and beyond. Btw, Southern Prohibition IPA out of Hattiesburg is niiiiiiiiiiice

The trick is not to gain too much weight during this stay in my white collar prison. We decided to use the opportunity to clean out the freezer, but I did find a great gumbo mix a Costco called Jambalaya Girl...just add chicken/sausage/shrimp. We added sautéed onions and peppers and okra. Damn it is great and that's from a gumbo snob.

Suzy B’s are fantastic. Freemasons from Chandeluer Brewery in Gulf Port are excellent as well.

We have received over 48" of snow this winter and its been below 0 every hour since last Thursday at 2am. Its supposed to go above 0 for the first time this Wednesday morning, making it almost a week of sub-0 temps.
Individual chicken pot pies on Saturday, Pulled pork and slaw last night, then some red beans & rice with chicken, andouille, and peppers tonight. Comfort foods 1 after another.

This is depressing as 17.

I was in Council Bluffs last week. It sucked. My rental car could not keep both my feet warm and the windshield defrosted. You should move. That **** will take a decade off your life.

We got 8” snow in Austin on top of all the ice. It was 5 degrees this morning, and still only 14 degrees with the sun out.

Looks like it moved northwest of missisip.

A fifth of Jameson's and a hot pot of strong coffee and you too can not only survive this crap but give less and less of a **** about it as the day goes on.

Guinness Shepherd's Pie. It's pretty awesome. Next up blackened salmon, yellow rice, roasted(air fryer) brussel sprouts.

Counciltucky will take 10 years off anyone's life. Here, I figure its knocked 5 off. AIm sticking it out since all the benefits continue to barely trump the weather, but the gap is narrowing for sure right now!

I don't think that I've seen a week of sub-zero in my life. With a personal life goal of never owning a snow shovel, I sincerely hope that I never do. I have to give a ton of credit to anyone that lives a large portion of the year in really cold temps and stays in shape. I don't want to do anything that requires going outside.

17 staying home. Government saying I can't get on the roads, but I say 17 them I'm for freedom. Gotta support my local businesses.

I grew up in Council Bluffs. While at State I’d acclimate to Starkville weather and then fly home to CB for Christmas. That was always a wake up call.

Which SPB IPA are you drinking? I like Crowd Control a lot, but they have put out several specialty brews recently.

I have only been to Iowa and Nebraska twice (both during the CWS). I swear the hottest day of my life was the first day of the CWS final in 2013. A damn tornado came through Omaha and soaked us all before they moved everyone under the stadium. Then I swear it was 100 degrees with 100% humidity.

Those summers are brutal. Add that to the fact that y’all get 50 inches of snow. Man I hope y’all get a nice spring and fall. Otherwise that seems like a rough place to live, weather wise.

I spent a winter in Williston, ND. We had at least two periods of ten consecutive days when the temp did not get up to zero. Lengthy sub-zero periods were so common there the locals used an expression that was totally alien to me; they would speak of doing something "when it gets back into the positives." Two days before I left in mid-February, I got to see the temp drop by more than 70 degrees in less than 8 hours, from a balmy 40 - 45 mid-morning to -30 by nightfall.

Work took me to Somerset, PA for 3 years. First winter there, we got 48" of snow in 4 days, with 30 inches falling on day one. Took me 4 hours to shovel my car out and it was parked only about 10 feet from the street.

My first time trying Crowd Control. Definitely getting more. Typically I’ve been drinking Zippin Pippin from Ghost River. CC is 8% so 🍻

Lived in Hattiesburg a few years back, so I became a big fan of SoPro. They have pissed me off twice now by ceasing production first of Jack the Sipper, which was and Extra Special Bitter and one of my all-time favorite beers, and then Mississippi Fire Ant, a high-octane red ale.

If you like high gravity beers, you should try Bell's Hopslam, if you can find it. I think it is a limited release, seasonal. It is a double IPA that tips the scales at 10% abv, but you would never know it from the taste. (I know, Bell's is a Michigan brewery, but good beer is good beer and 10% is 10%). Of the Memphis IPAs I have had, I like Crosstown's Traffic more than Ghost River's Zippin Pippin. Memphis Made Brewing did a New England style IPA called Minute Man that I really liked, but it was a limited release and is no more.

Its been a heavy winter for snow and this is way more than normal. In the prior 6 years, 4 years we probably didnt even see accumulated snow on the ground until January and over the following couple months any snow that fell would melt within a few days. Christmas of 2019 I was mountainbiking with my kids and it hadnt yet snowed for the season and was in the 50s, February of 2020 there was no snow on the ground and gravel roads were dusty, etc.
Its all just really inconsistent. Sometimes nice weather for much of the winter, sometimes a normal winter, and sometimes this **** happens.
Summers though- yeah they are hot. The most uncomfortable summer Ive had though was when I had to be at MSU for the summer of '02. It was a 2 shirt day every day.

Here in Colorado we have the inversion working, it was -10 in Denver but much warmer in the mountains where we spent the long weekend.
The cold and snow are worth it as long as you have winter sports, and the summers without 100 degrees with humidity.
