It's been that way for as long as I can remember. There's a stark contrast between the haves and have nots.
CC's junior year was an outlier. Was Iowa seeded 3rd or 4th that year? Senior year was somewhat of an outlier, too but yes, the top two or four teams generally are so much better than all of the other teams.

Last year and this year were the first two NCAA Final Fours for UCLA. Just because they blasted South Carolina doesn't mean they aren't a new face in the women's power teams.
UCLA was old with a good mix of transfers. They’ll be replacing the entire team. See if it’s a great 2 year run or it’s sustainable.
USC will take the reins from UCLA as long as JuJu returns.
I'd expect to see USC, Michigan, Maryland, and UCLA to hover at the top of the B1G.

Seniors scored every single point for UCLA in this year's Final Four. Next year's team won't come close to what this year's team accomplished.

All going to come down to which schools are going to put up $$$ for top talent.
I think that's part if it. A lot of it now has to do with identifying best fit for what you need and utilizing financial resources in the most efficient manner. Iowa wasted resources on Emely and Addie last year. There's no other way to look at it. They got good value from CCW. We need more CCW's and fewer Emelys and Addies.
So our loss to UCLA wasn't some kind of doomsday event after all. I think Iowa Woman's BBall is doing fine. Hopefully there is some money available to get what Jan needs. Key is to figure out who the premadonna are ?
It definitely wasn't good, but I also don't think doomsday. It's possible it rattled them, but I think the Virginia game came down to just having a really bad day at home and some decent shots not falling.
