WBB Game Thread - @ USF

Could be the first test of the season. USF has a 38-point win over Jacksonville and a 5-point loss to #4 Baylor. Also, an interesting roster note: USF has 11 players out of Europe, representing 8 different European countries. That's quite the international flavor.

We are not getting any favors from the zebras except for one technical. Several head scratchers like not changing the possession arrow after giving USF the last tie ball.

We've had trouble scoring in the qtr and they can't miss. Our free throws are pitiful.

Zebras calling a bunch of ticky-tack fouls; players can't even breathe out there. We're getting out-hustled on the boards and aren't guarding outside shooters. Shooting really went cold in the second quarter. Looks like the ladies caught that missed free throw disease that the men had against Clemson. Pitiful free throw shooting.

Game is borderline unwatchable. Announcer talks at 0.25x speed, there's whistles being blown almost every possession, our women look lazy on the boards, don't have a 3-point threat. I'm saying all this with a minute to go and us down 1. South Florida isn't bad, but this isn't a game we should lose.

Edit: not saying our team is unwatchable -- don't like the refs and the announcers

No shooters on this team. When the opponent is packing it in and playing Euro-Ball, you have to shoot it from outside. This team has not shooters. Just paint players.

I’ve always wondered why more teams didn’t try to full euro. You can get a lot of smart players that really hustle that way that are much more fundamentally sound than the US because our coaching is really bad at most high school and aau levels

Our coach coached the entire game from her chair. I didn’t see much fire from her. I didn’t see many offensive sets either. I was not impressed by how she handled this game.

I was surprised myself. I wasn't expecting her to mimic Vic but she never seemed to try to put any fire in the girls.

We have talent but if we don't clean things up, play better defense, and rebound stronger we won't win any of the big games.

Hell, if we make 75% of our free throws we win.

USF is no slouch. They've been a tournament team lately, and with UConn gone, have a real shot to be the top program in the AAC. I of course still agree that we should beat them, just saying they shouldn't be a bad loss on the resume.
