And here we are! Playoff time! WB6 had five teams qualify for the postseason. On to the games!

Rochelle @ Geneseo: This is a rematch of week one where the Hubs got the better of the Leafs 41-14. A lot has happened since then as Geneseo has proven to be a power in the conference running their triple option offense. The Leaf defense has been up and down, but has found a way to get the job done. I think this Leaf team is brimming with confidence (specially after a week 9 beat down of Quincy) and can execute their offense at a high level. Rochelle has run the gamut of games this season, having won blow outs and close games, as well as losing a blow out game to Morris and losing two close ones to Sycamore and Le-Win. Rochelle is always a tough team and this one has the added inspiration of playing for teammate Dylan Manning who was recovering from brain surgery. This game should be a slobber-knocker like the days of old! Geneseo 24 – Rochelle 23

Andrew @ Moline: The first three weeks of the season were a bit of a struggle for the Maroons as they lost their opener, beat Sycamore 21-20 in OT, and struggled with a young Sterling team a bit more than they wanted to. In each of their first three games, Moline gave up 20 or more points. The following 6 games would see a defensive reversal as they would pitch two shutouts and only give up a touchdown in three others (the sixth game was a forfeit). The offense has been just as good, grinding out drives and battering opponents. Nothing flashy, just efficient. Andrew looks like they have had an up and down season, finishing at 5-4. They run triple option which would normally trip up a team not used to it, but Moline not only runs Wing T…but they played a Geneseo team who is a triple option team. I think advantage Moline here in a game that goes very quickly. Moline 35 – Andrew 7.

Sterling @ Coal City: I feel Sterling exceeded expectations slightly given how young their starting roster is. Their three losses were to playoff bound Metamora, Geneseo, and Moline. While they only beat two other lower seeded playoff teams and have shown some inconsistent play, Sterling has also shown you just never know what to expect from them. Outside of a week 9 pasting by Wilmington and a close non-conference loss to Richmond-Burton, Coal City has blasted every team on their schedule with very solid defense and balance on offense. Coal City also is a staple of the 4A playoff field and should be looking for another big playoff run. Coal City 35 – Sterling 21

United Township @ St. Charles North: UT is limping into it’s first postseason since 2001 thanks to a week 9 forfeit from Alleman. Starting QB Jonathon Drake was injured early in the week 8 game against Moline and currently unsure if he is able to go. With him, UT’s offense had some go to it. With out him, moving the ball will be a lot harder. SCN has barreled it’s way through the Dukane, dropping only one game with mostly solid defense and fast pace, no huddle offense. How close UT keeps it probably depends on Drakes status. SCN 45 – UT 17

Quincy @ Crete-Monee: Quincy had a very rough season compared to the past three years. They only beat one playoff teams (a very close game against UT) and got absolutely hammered by Geneseo, Sterling, and Moline. In those games, the offense and defense seemed to just fall apart with giving up big plays and a slew of turnovers. If Quincy wants to extend its season another week, they are going to need to really tighten up on the mistakes of the past two weeks. Crete-Monee has played and beaten some very solid programs, such as Kankakee. I would be mildly surprised if Quincy has the horses to hang with the Warriors for more than a half. Crete-Monee 42 – Quincy 14

Solid work, Sterling.
I’m surely hoping he is predicting this as this game is at 4pm tomorrow. Unless I’ve had too many beers tonight/ tomorrow and it is now Sunday!🤷🏼‍♂️
On a related note I don’t see his prediction being wrong but I cannot for the life in me figure this game out and I am a follower of both teams gut tells me sterling with the better conference but CC cannot ever be counted out.

Yeah, I believe he is just predicting tomorrow. I am hoping Sterling can pull it out, but CC is a very tough team.

Yeah, prediction way off. This Sterling team is just too young, 1 or 2 more years. CC much better than I assumed, especially on defense. they manhandled both lines of scrimmage and Sterling could not get much going on offense to highlight their athletes. Quartback had no time to throw. When it was 7-7 end of first quarter I thought maybe a chance but it all went to hell from there.
CC really good team, good luck the rest of the way.
