Iowa at #11 in the B1G.

Depends if they can find their alpha right out of the gate or not. I’m hoping Cooper is ready for that step. If they do this team has a chance to be really dangerous. As was said above, losing Bennett is a huge deal. Also, manny of our kids are untested, especially in the B1G. I think our fans’ loyalty to Ben will be tested if, God forbid, we don’t do well.
btw, I’m watching Hausen against Golden State. He’s had 17 points in 15 minutes!!!! He looks awesome. I think he had over 20 points in the first game. I swear, I will never understand this one. What happened at Iowa? Anyway, I hope the kids does great in the NBA.

And Wisky.And also F*** Illinois.
Can we finally win a national championship?I am ok with this because we are listed too low and there is another season ahead of the guys to prove others wrong. Will there be bumps along the way? no doubt....there were this past season. If Ben has them playing defense again and our offense naturally becomes more balanced (not relying so much on one guy), I think we have a fun team to watch.
If we can land this kid, it'll sure help get us on the right path to one.Can we finally win a national championship?

Power 40 update ...Iowa drops -1 to #40 and #12 in Big10 as Connie moves ahead and takes #39 spot.

Iowa will be better than last year. Stirtz was great, but this team is big, deep, talented and much more experienced. The Hawkeyes will have scorers everywhere. The defense will be better, the offense will be better, they won't have to rely on one guy at key moments. Anybody who's sleeping on Iowa still doesn't understand Ben McCollom. He's not in Iowa City to punch a clock and pick up a paycheck. He's there to win, and he'll do even more of it this season than last. Feel free to return to this post next March.Seems about right.
Saw a bracket today on ESPN that had us as an #11 seed.
Those teams ahead of us in the BIG are tough with maybe a young, talented terp team someone we can jump, altho they did beat us in MD last year ( ouch).
The loss of Bennett is tough to quantify,as pgs are like QBs in value . That will be hard to overcome.

Agree.Nebraska at #19 - I don’t see it. As others have mentioned, defense is the great equalizer as long as you have a couple decent scorers. Also, doesn’t hurt to have a 7ft3 Center - that’s the wildcard that Ben can hopefully redeem in March (and vs. Purdue!)

Indiana always seems to get the benefit of the doubt pre season for sure. Brand I guess....Ohio State and Indiana are "prove it to me" teams. Can't believe it until I see it.
And also F*** Illinois.
And Illinois. To add, I think we'll see a lot more from Jirak this year then last.Nebraska at #19 - I don’t see it. McKeever and Jirak on the floor together. The (almost) twin towers. And Illinois. To add, I think we'll see a lot more from Jirak this year then last.
