My son worked for 8 years on the Orion project design team. He has received multiple promotions but was denied a promotion a year or so ago because promoting him to an open position "wouldn't advance diversity". He was extremely qualified to do the job. The guy interviewing him literally said he had virtually no shot at the position solely because he was a white male.
My son ran into that too with the govt contractor which I'm not at liberty to say EXCEPT for the fact that he was a vet. He got the job but was soon disillusioned by what he saw. Dei hires that knew and did absolutely nothing and weren't qualified for their jobs. When he and other team members complained ( they were under pressure for results) about dead weight, they were told nothing could be done about said dead weight because of race.

Needless to say he's transitioned out and found better situation

Are we really having this debate again? Wind turbines, solar farms, e vehicles are all great and growing technologies. And will almost surely present less problems once fully built out than previous generation technologies. Not claiming they're perfect, but they're more than good enough.

And sure you need storage. I don't like battery energy storage. I prefer pumped storage hydro (PSH) and flywheels instead and think they're more scalable solutions.

Asking for a friend…

Do you agree with anyone on anything?

The Keystone is open and has been for years.
The construction of the KXL segment of the pipeline was shut down when Joe took office. Cost thousands of jobs & part of the energy independence dismantling. One of the main contributors to Russia being able to declare war.

The Russia war is quite a reach. Those thousands of jobs were actually about a 1k temp jobs many of which were quickly absorbed into other projects by TC Energy a canadian owned company.

Many Nebraskans were against this project as it was transporting dilbit which is (diluted bitumen) and is much more difficult to clean up then regular crude oil.

Russia declared war on Ukraine because Russia wanted to declare war on Ukraine. It had nothing to do with the Key XL. Where do you guys get this stuff?

For the life of me, I don't understand why people keep standing up for a foreign oil company that wants to force Nebraskans to give up their land so that the foreign oil company can ship its oil to China and India.

Because they were told that it was someone's fault that they don't like. And they believe what certain news sources tell them about why gas prices are high. Even though pipelines really don't affect the overall price of gas. It's still about production and the US has been producing more over the last several years then ever before, despite what the talking heads on radio and tv say.

Energy independence dismantling? You do realize the U.S. produces more oil then at any point in history? More then the 2016 - 2020 administration. Oil production is at an all-time high. We are dominating. Oil around $70 is a win win for everyone.

Russia thought the U.S. would let them take Ukraine based on the current president's posturing over NATO. Putin misjudged the situation and it's going to cost him a generation of Russian men.

Yup. We walked out of Europe and he walked into Ukraine...And I don't believe he would have stopped there. Although im sure he's excited about the prospects now.

But that doesn't fit what the talking heads and their fearless leader is telling them. It can't be true.

Russia wants the breadbasket of Ukraine. That’s where the world is going. I listened to a special forces officer speak at a meeting about 15 years ago who said they believed the next major world conflict would be fought over food resources. He advised us all to buy as much of the best dry land farm ground we could get. Wish I had bought more. Irrigators are already being shut off in some areas. Russia wanted Ukraine’s port in Crimea and now their ag land.

Putin was afraid of what Trump might do. He had no such fear of Obama or Biden. Crimea happened under Obama’s watch and Ukraine under Joe. It isn’t a coincidence.

LOL. Not quite. Come on with that.

There were multiple factors, one being a weakened global stance after the US backed out of the Paris Accords as well as our perceived prominence in NATO.

Remember one president significantly increased the amount of aid and military equipment to Ukraine, While the other (trump) has said that it was a genius move and savvy. Trump also has had a very soft stance towards Russia and its activities. These are well documented and not really up for real debate.

Regardless. Russia invaded Ukraine because Russia wanted to invade Ukraine. Blaming anyone person in the US is disingenuous.

Now you're getting it. Winking

Yes i'm excited for a multitude of things.

My daughters scholarship being taxed, my mortgage interest not being tax deductible, and of course gas at 2$ and the price of eggs dropping, and milk being cheaper, and of course the health benefits of Dr. Kennedy's policies... and so much more. Best of all is the Gulf of America. I have been waiting a half century for that one. Oh and the state of Canada is going to be glorious. So much to discuss.

When did Putin take action? You can not deny when he did it. You can suppose why but you can not deny that he did it with Presidents in office who he was confident would do nothing.

Sure he did it right after Biden took office. One could infer that it was because of a weakened world stance that was profoundly a Trump policy. Could it be that he used the timing to continue to erode confidence in America's government and sow even more division, knowing that Trump and his sycophants would pounce on someone to blame?

He's as easy a book to read as DJT. All you have to be is open minded.

Weakness breeds aggression. Why the world has been on fire the last 4 years.
LOL the world has been on fire for 10K years. As long as there is man their is going to be war.

This is a list of conflicts during Trumps first Tenure.

1. Middle East and North Africa

  • Syrian Civil War:
    • The war continued with major battles involving the Syrian government, rebel groups, ISIS, and foreign powers like Russia, Turkey, and the U.S.
    • The U.S. conducted military strikes on Syrian government targets following chemical weapons use.
  • Yemen Civil War:
    • The conflict between the Saudi-led coalition (backed by the U.S.) and Houthi rebels escalated, causing a severe humanitarian crisis.
  • Libyan Civil War:
    • Fighting between the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) and forces led by Khalifa Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA) intensified.
  • Iraq:
    • The fight against ISIS continued, with the U.S. supporting Iraqi forces in retaking ISIS-held territories.
  • Israel-Palestine Conflict:
    • The U.S. recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital in 2017, leading to heightened tensions.

2. Asia

  • Afghanistan:
    • The Taliban insurgency persisted despite ongoing U.S. and NATO operations. Peace talks between the U.S. and the Taliban began during Trump's term.
  • North Korea:
    • North Korea conducted missile tests, leading to heightened tensions. Trump's summits with Kim Jong Un marked unprecedented diplomatic engagement.
  • Myanmar (Rohingya Crisis):
    • The military crackdown on the Rohingya Muslim minority led to mass displacement and accusations of genocide.
  • Kashmir Dispute:
    • Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated following India's revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special status in 2019.

3. Europe

  • Ukraine Conflict:
    • Fighting between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists in the Donbas region persisted. Russia maintained its annexation of Crimea.

4. Africa

  • Ethiopia (Tigray Conflict):
    • Tensions between the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) and the Ethiopian government began to escalate toward the end of Trump's term.
  • Boko Haram Insurgency (Nigeria):
    • Boko Haram and its splinter group, ISWAP, continued attacks in Nigeria and neighboring countries.
  • Sahel Region:
    • Extremist violence and conflicts involving groups like Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) and ISIS-affiliated groups increased.

5. Americas

  • Venezuela Crisis:
    • A political and economic crisis deepened, with U.S.-backed opposition leader Juan Guaidó challenging Nicolás Maduro's government.
  • Mexico (Drug Cartel Violence):
    • Violence linked to drug cartels and organized crime remained a major issue.

6. Global Terrorism

  • The U.S. continued counterterrorism operations worldwide, targeting ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and their affiliates in regions like the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia.

Didn't Obama send over special forces to train the Ukraine army in modern warfare? Which is what limited Putin to just Crimea?

Putin's weakness led him to overcompensate. Russia can't even beat Ukraine in a straight war. He just exposed the whole country as being the sham many knew they were. Poor, cold, and stupid. That is Russia.

Fossil fuels release HF, CO₂, and other pollutants daily—no accidents required. They poison the air, harm ecosystems, and fuel climate change on a massive scale.

As for the tired claim that building anything at scale harms the environment—you’re right, but the difference is purpose. Building renewables and batteries fights climate collapse. Burning fossil fuels accelerates it. Not all harm is created equal.
Climate change. Yep your easy to convince.

I'm watching that play out now at a similar type of place. Given the nature of their work, I hope it gets corrected soon.

So this was the case in education the last few years.

Had a buddy looking for a history gig and was told by one of his professors that he picked the wrong time to be "a white college grad".

That has DRASTICALLY changed in the last 2 years or so.

- Biden signed an executive order on January 20, 2021 to rejoin the Paris Agreement.

- The US rejoined the Paris Agreement on February 19, 2021 (under Biden).

- Russia invaded Ukraine February 24, 2022. A whole year after we rejoined the PA.
