The accusations are piling up for ole Watson. He was a real stick man in college, maybe he'll get wiser about what he's slinging out there... Hope he gets due process, however this goes down....
I would hope that even those on this board will give anyone (especially a former great) the same respect that anyone should get. That is, innocent until proven guilty. You say that you hope for due process but the you go on to say how bad this is.
Maybe this will give a different perspective. Deshaun was a great fan of Bob Mcnair, the owner that recently passed away. His son is now running the franchise , and is the individual that Deshaun has accused of lying to him (which has been supported as true through various media sources), prompting the trade demands. Buzzbee (the attorney now suing Watson) is a neighbor the McNair family and a good friend with Cal, the son running the franchise who Watson can’t stand. Go figure.
This guy, Buzzbee, is a big time attorney and is not going to represent a group of massage parlor women without an ulterior motive. supposedly there is a provision in Watsons contract that will allow them to reduce the cap hit if he violates a morality requirement (ie, they can still pay in settlement but the settlement amount doesn’t count toward the cap). So, everything can get dropped via a minimum settlement and Houston can honor the contract With Watson through a separate settlement agreement, but that amount is no longer counted toward the franchise cap.
I don’t know that any of this is going on, but there are crazy consequences and a number of media sources are skeptical and believe that McNairs are involved. If that’s the case, it’s a good bet that all this just means that they are leveraging an anticipated Watson trade.
