I know I haven't really kept up the last couple of years, but when did those teams get so bad? Villanova is 7-7, Georgetown is 5-10. Watching them, they just look almost a level down from Big 10 play.

That’s because without the football schools, a league with a bunch of small private schools is actually a terrible sports venture. Money starts to dry up, you don’t see them in the media as much because they have less alumni and therefore people who click/read/care about them, and they fade into irrelevancy.

Exactly what many predicted, although took a few years to happen, is coming to fruition.

Recently spoke with a former Georgetown player. When Patrick Ewing’s tenure comes to an end, Richard Pitino will be his successor.

Both programs will be gone long term.

They have a passionate and wealthy alumni base who is willing to support. Great histories. Men's basketball is king at both schools.
They will find the right coaches and be fine long term.

Villanova made the Final Four last year.
