I remember that one well. That was one of the most disappointing end of seasons ever.

Sure was. I was at the NU-OU game in Lincoln that year. Keith Jones scored early and we were up 7-0. But then that was it. I was so disappointed. I thought we were really going to beat OU that year.

I watched that game a few months ago. Seems OU was more physical. Bigger. Besides, I don't think anyone was going to beat that Miami team full of future all pros.

The 86 team came so close to beating the Bosworth team that it made plenty of sense to think that.

We do have selective memories. We all like to remember the ASU-NU game the year before Scott Frost led two time defending NC champs into Tempe and put up 0 points — and I think got sacked for a safety. The year before we scored over 70 and ASU Coach Snyder was not happy with TO for running up the score.

Now we are discussing the big win in 87 over Aikman. Of course the next year we played them in Pasadena and were down 28-0 in the first quarter. I got stuck in traffic and made it just in time to see UCLA score the 4th td.

I was at both clunkers and missed the prior years’ games that were NU wins. Some luck. BTW, when I was leaving Sun Devil Stadium after the 19-0 gem, I would have bet a lot of money that NU fans would never want Scott Frost as qb much less head coach.

If Frost were single he should take the job in Westwood. Holy Christ. From all over the globe...

I remember after the game when they asked Barry about Charles Thompson, you know, the FRESHMAN who came into Lincoln subbing for OU's starter? Barry said he played great, and then went on to say that there was no Sooner Magic that day, that they beat Nebraska for four quarters.

Maybe the worst thing that led up to that 1987 loss was the fact that Steve Taylor, Broderick Thomas and a few others opened up that can of whoop *** from the Sooners by trash talking days before the game, saying that OU didn't belong on the same field as Nebraska. I think that got their (OU's) attention somewhat.

Especially Broderick. He talked **** about how this was "our house" and only we had the keys. They were even selling big plastic stupid *** keys outside the stadium for people to wave around

Taylor was saying OU did not belong on the same field as NU. That is significant smack talk. You don't hear stuff like this these days. Maybe that is one of the reasons I find today's game boring. That and nobody knows how to play defense these days except for a few schools.

I remember seeing all that around the stadium, I thought it was some of the lamest crap I'd ever seen. Midway through the second quarter I began to realize that OU was once again going to beat Nebraska, and not by some last minute miracle, but a thorough beat down. And that's exactly what happened.:(

Fond memories of the 1987 NU-UCLA game. Sitting in the student section, my friend kept yelling some obscenities at the group behind us. Mid-way through the third quarter he turns around to yell something and his head snaps back like he had been shot. Someone had thrown a full can of Coors Light and hit him square between the eyes. My friend picks up the beer can, opens it, drinks it in one gulp, throws the can back up into the crowd, turns to us and says "I got the better of that f**** didn't I!" Drops in a heap and has to carried out of the stadium. For the next couple of weeks he walked around campus with a beer can ring on his forehead.

in tempe, our OL was manhandled. Derrick Rogers murdered us.
Our D line was pushed around some too but they did have I think 2 NFL all pro O linemen on that team IF I remember correctly. The one guy played in the league for over a dozen years. Randall McDaniel. The guy ran a 10.6 100 meters in high school according to Wikipedia. 4.6 40 at the combine as a 285 lb OG.

ASU was a pretty damn good team in 1996. Certainly Nebraska could have played better on offense, but the Devils proved out to be NC type material.

Just put in a dvd of the 88 Orange and they mention OU was favored over Miami. Shocked considering Miami had owned them in their two prior meetings and had many of the same players from those games.

Huskers lamenting.
"Remember when we were good?
Yes! It was awesome!"

Now it is a haiku....

Yes they should have won. If memory serves, we had a chance to take the lead late when Morgan Gregory caught a pass and turned it into big yards inside the FSU red zone. Sadly, the play was called back on a penalty

Wasn't that some goofy illegal man down field penalty? That comes to mind about that play.
