The cheapness wasn't a buyout. There was really no buyout cause he was just OC in Dec 2007. The cheapness was largely on incentives for winning milestones (conference title, BCS bowl, title game, etc) based upon what I heard. I would trust what I heard since the person has known Jimbo since college and is very close to him to this day. FSU got wind of it, probably via Jimmy Sexton (agent), and case closed with coach in waiting and major raise from FSU.
