We’re going to have to take care of our own business. That game at Auburn is huge.
Kenpom (or one of the equivalents) had Auburn at a 70% something to win the regular SEC title coming into this game. With that win, it’s going to be about 90%

Not much teamwork going on with either of these teams. Just a whole lot of 1 on 1. One guy tries to make a move, passes to 2nd guy who tries to make a move, and then 3rd guy, and so on. Not much movement, not many assists.
Auburn is good. Guards are better than I thought and Jabari Smith is a stud. They will be hard to beat.

I'll say this, that was a good game even tho the refs took charge.Bamas guards hit the boards hard but they live and die with the three point shot
Auburn is a good team loaded with depth and with their easier SEC schedule could very well win the regular season title.Gonna be a difficult challenge for us when we go down there.

i’ll keep cal and you can go root for pearl and auburn and see who is more successful
Nope. I'm a UK fan. Don't like Pearl, but like his coaching style.

Like Cal, but don't like his coaching style.

See the difference???

I am a UK fan. I just prefer a different brand of basketball than what Cal puts out there. Is that ok with you??

Auburn has some very good guards .... Smith is the real deal. Did not realize that their guards were that quick.

And that's OK.

I don't like Cal's style of play. Is that OK?

Can I still be a UK fan or you gonna ban me from cheering for my Alma Mater???
nope just don’t start the bashing of cal with everything that he does wrong

Lol. Put the bottle down and go to bed, son.
We know you love Cal, and that is ok, but he makes a lot of coaching mistakes whether you want to acknowledge them or not.

Saying you don't like a coaching style is not bashing your hero.

Have a good night. Go Big Blue.

Didn't foul until game was over.

Oates auditioning for dumbest coach in the country?
I thought someone was trying to hire him 10 or so posts ago.

This chaos is not quality basketball. Its fan candy. It will win some games. It looks cool like playstation. It is not consistent enough to win tournaments though.

This helter shelter style is Pearls signature, it’s not pretty but it gets results, sometimes. Anybody remember the Elite 8 game we lost to them, same kind of game. His d pressure speeds people up gets them out of rhythm, crazier the game better he likes it .A disciplined offense and tenacious defense might get him. They definitely are the front runners to win conference given their schedule right now. The wild card in this is A&M ,they are coming in under the radar and look really good right now. That will be a much tougher game for us than anybody anticipated

Quinerly is the poster child for shooting % variation. He shot over 40% on 120 attempts last season. This year, he is at just 26% on over 80 attempts.
Couldn’t hack it at Villanova. Why everyone is so high on him is a mystery to me.

Probably because Cal’s coaching style has produced bigger and better winning seasons than pearls. So I guess if you like to lose more it makes perfect sense to prefer pearl’s style over cals
Did you not get the memo, there are style points in basketball! UK is averaging 80 points a game this year still isn’t getting those style points!!

That hairstyle is hot on the basketball circuit these days.
Man I'm old and just set back and laugh at these " hairstyles" Its hilarious . I tuned in for a few minutes of Fl-Bama and never saw 10 guys trying so hard to be " cool". That dude from Florida with the Unicorn look was the funniest . Ugliest group of 10 guys I've ever witnessed at one time on the floor .

Auburn is going to win the SEC regular season and that is ok. As Jeff and others have pointed out, they get a weak schedule so until the SEC starts balancing the schedule it is going to put UK at a disadvantage. I look forward to OU & Texas joining in a few years so we can have a more fair balanced schedules. If they keep the 3 permanent rivals, some teams will still get the shaft as TN, FL & even Vandy are better mots years than some other combinations.

I don't think they are going to ever balance out the schedule....in a press conference a couple years ago the SEC Vice President in charge of basketball scheduling let it slip that the schedule is made in "consultation" with the leagues television partners. So the league's interests are actually in making as much money as possible and not having a fair and balanced schedule.

Auburn guy here and they were not very good to start the season. That UConn game did something to this team.

We were fine to start the season. Like every team, we had to build chemistry, players had to learn their roles in real game situations, etc...

That UConn game was dumb lol. They shot like 60% from three, we didn't have Flanigan, and Sanago had like 30 points hitting sky hooks from the free throw line. UConn won't play that good again for the forseeable future. That loss didn't do anything for this team that wasn't already going to happen.

It's not very likely.. but small chance that Auburn could be ranked #1 when we roll in. I have to imagine Baylor will fall behind them. Gonzaga has BYU next, UCLA has Oregon.

So doubtful, but it could happen.

I saw a bunch of hero ball and AAU play for most of that game. Shot selection was poor on both sides.

Alabama kept jackin’ those 3s despite making only 4 of 22.

Neither team left me shaking in my boots.

Watching that game I thought Alabama should have taken the ball inside and trying to draw fouls , as like you said they were not hitting 3's that well.

Pearl has done it at Tennessee and is now doing it at Auburn. Big difference between those 2 schools and UK when it comes to basketball and resources. Especially Auburn vs UK.

If you have 16 teams and play 18 games that is 15 opponents. If they keep the 3 permanent rivals, that is 2 against TN, 2 against FL and 2 against VU annually for UK and that leaves 12 games for the remaining 12 opponents. Now they could "rig" it so we have a tough road slate every other year, but that means the next year we would have an easier road slate.

I agree, in the current scheduling climate it will never happen but expansion gives me hope.

My gosh, they shot 29 foul shots and that was with the refs letting them play inside. They outscored Auburn by 10 from the FT line.

FT kept the game from being an Auburn blowout win. Refs tried hard to keep Bama in the game.
