Sorry if I missed it in a previous thread. Has there been any recent news on his eligibility? Last I heard he was expelled with like a few weeks left of school and went back to Cali but I never heard about his status?

Last we heard. They were trying to get him in on an academic redshirt. He couldn't play in 2018...But could practice with the team.

You're not going to know anything more until August. Staff is confident he'll make the team but he will not be eligible to play this fall while he's on the team. BUT it all depends - he has to pass his summer classes and that won't be known until August.

I'm with @frankluv on this one. He attended three high schools in four seasons, and was just kicked out of his last school in the middle of his senior year. Kids with that type of baggage history rarely end up panning out.

With his scholastic background and proclivity to bounce around, why would we want him?

Frost & the other coaches would be good mentors for him. Not only shape him up academically but as a young man. Worth a shot imo.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but if he in fact went to three schools in four years and at this point is still not qualified, it is extremely likely many people have come along side him in an attempt to get him going down the right path. When a person goes to this many schools in this period of time, it is highly likely that there are holes in the educational outcomes and some character flaws that facilitate the changes.

Certainly, Frost and the rest of the coaching staff can be a huge influence but in the end, a student-athlete must have the fortitude to save themselves. I have no idea where his family has been in all of this which is a huge factor. But to go across the country doesn't bode well. I hope it all works out for him - football or no football.

I hope something good happens for him. You can only hold his hand so long. You’re right that it’s his responsibility in the end. I just hope he can get an education somewhere. For me it’s a coin flip. I think I would still take a chance. If he squanders it, it’s 100% his fault.
