Their DL 2 deep are all the size of BIG lbs, their LBs sized like safeties, all quick. Wiscy would guarantee 6 yards + per play. Totally set up for Pac 12 spreads, not power pro sets.

I see your point, but they did allow 38 points to Stanford (won 41-38). But they only allowed 120 rush yards.... though I blame that on Stanford's play calling as Wazzu didn't have a lead until the fourth quarter. The Stanford QB threw 43 times with only 6 carries by Bryce Love (edit: Bryce left in the fourth Q with a ankle injury and wasn't 100% all game, but still).
The point is that you design your team to win the games on your schedule or to compete in your league. They won 10 of 12.
Wazzu does well in the Pac 12 but still can't beat UDub. And that is a big deal. Actually that's the #1 complaint about the pirate - even among those who love him.
This was the year the Cougs should have beat the Dawgs. The snow doomed WSU. U Dub’s RB Gaskin ran better in the snow than anyone for the Cougs. Mike had some pretty odd play calling with the ball around midfield, 1st and 5 and only down by 5 points. Ended up losing yards and having to punt. Never got close after that. Some people on this board wrote Mike Leach would be a good replacement for Riley. I wrote he would drive us crazy.
Maybe so, but I don’t think Scott will come anywhere close to the Pirate in making strange calls.

I see what Leach is doing, knows he doesn't have the DL talent the top recruiting teams get so he plugs in quick explosive undersized tweeners and has them slant into gaps expecting the LBs to make most plays. The Guy is truly outside the box.
