Was vitale rubbing our faces in it?

Vitate was being honest about social media and wanting Cal fired. It is not going to happen this season nor should it. Now as i have been saying, the same thing occurs next season and you can say goodbye. But it was interesting that when Vitale talked about the Blue Blood programs likely out of the tourney he conveniently forgot to mention Duke.

He didn’t mention Duke because they are not out of it yet.if they have a winning record they WILL be in the tourney, hide and watch.

I think he has a chance to change, a chance to turn it around 180 and succeed but I don’t think he will. He would have to change his philosophy and keep this team (most of it), blend in Pscar and the new recruits and have a great year next year...honestly I’m not sure he would have all the parts to make an elite team next year even if he did change though.

What do you mean about the same thing happening next year? You mean it would take another epically bad season to justify that he shouldn't be our coach? IF he's the coach next season, we need to be in the top 10 the whole year for me to even THINK he shouldn't be gone. I can't believe that a mediocre season is now acceptable.

No one and I mean NO ONE is saying a mediocre season is acceptable. What posts are you reading? One season ago we won the SEC and were anticipating a run in the tourney. So to just decide Cal should be fired after this season is simply not going to happen.

Vitale isn't a has been, he's a never was! His college coaching career was four years at the University of Detroit, a low to mid major. And he was fired after his one and only season of coaching in the NBA!

To listen to the old creepy has been acting like a special pleader for cal was more nauseating than the game itself.

Get them both out. Espn is now a parody of itself
I'm not sure he was watching the game closely enough to make commentary on it or the programs in involved.

That's because he was sitting at home ridding his knobbed Coach K *** pillow.

I don’t think he has enough mind left to rub anyone’s mind into anything. Mindless rambling.

I used to love watching games called by Dickie V. He had a true love and passion for the game that was unmatched by his peers. He seemed very genuine as he took pleasure in watching and praising the best players and teams. He used his platform to promote a wonderful charity as well. Not enough of the elite do that.

Then he flipped a switch and became an ACC, and mostly, Duke blowhard. I find him insufferable now. Jay Bilas went through a similar metamorphosis but it didn’t take nearly as long.

I am more forgiving with Vitale although somewhat of a one trick pony because he does love the game. Duke also has done well or had a top player for a number of different seasons that got a lot of attention. However, with Duke being nearly as bad as Kentucky (not quite though), his silence or forgetfulness about them does minimize any objectivity if there ever was one.

Starts talking about how crazy we are wanting Cal gone that some other school will take him in a minute... Well take him then wouldn't hurt my damn feelings at all... Halfway through the 2nd half we have senile Vitale calling Sarr by the name Zarr so old man who's really crazy? He just needs to go ahead and retire!

there's also probably 30 great coaches who would jump to coach Kentucky in a minute

When Bilas took the top seat from Vitale is when that occurred.

Exactly, won the SEC by three games and now this year Cal forgot how to coach. Some of the stuff on here is comical

Jace, I like when someone agrees with me except I think you are not agreeing with my point. I am not saying that Cal is a great in-game coach, I actually don't think he is. I am saying as bad as this season is you can't (nor will it happen) fire him. But, if it continues without some change in personnel and philosophy and we see this same type of performance next season then it will be a legitimate discussion.

Unless he's promoting Jimmy V/cancer research, the mute button is vital to dealing with Dick Vitale.

I admire that he's a fan of the game, coaches, and players and rarely says anything negative....but

It's like wheeling in a man from the retirement home for a game.
It's a nice thing to do, but you don't put a microphone in front of him.
He hasn't had a new idea, or said anything new, since 1990. He offers nothing during games.
