I was there real early tonight when there were no fans in the stands. Watched 5 feet away from Cam and Cliff shoot 3 pointer after 3 pointer(every shot was a 3 pointer). They were 18-20 combined from 3 when I watched. Granted there were no defenders, but each only missed 1 shot!!

Best of Luck,
Groz

Cliff hit two 3s in the exhibition vs Fairfield. Ideally I would like to see Cliff develop more of a 10-12 foot game in lieu of him shooting 3s. Cam is another story as he’s a baller. Person next to me at game was there early for warmups and asked me who is this guy with brown hair hitting all these 3s in warmups. Lol.

In the pros making threes is a must ability, even for the tall guys
Cliff worked on it off season so we will see him try during the season

Just not sure what the point of the thread was. College kids even bigs with some touch can look lights out in pre game 45 minutes before tip off.

Doesn't mean it will translate.
He never said it would. But it’s interesting that our Center has added this dimension to his game. Sorry you disagree. But now that you’ve successfully policed this thread, we can all sleep better tonight. Well done good sir.

Great to hear! Spencer was lights out when he got going. Cliff had a couple of rough shots but also had a corner 3 on a good line that he was a little short on. Exciting to think about what will happen when those start going in at a higher rate.

Fans concern about Cliff should be directed toward foul shooting and not getting in early foul trouble. He has the potential to be one of thr best players in the BIG Ten.

You are right, it doesn’t mean it will necessarily translate. That being said, if they missed 18 of 20 what would you have said?

Maybe we should pre-clear all new threads with you before posting to ensure they meet your standards for rigorous journalism
Lol the dude signs off on every post "Best of Luck, Groz" like he is writing a letter. Sorry I was just ball busting

I have rewatched many times the last couple of minutes of the away Indiana game
Cliff hit two big free throws under intense pressure
Was a very nice moment

Division 1 basketball players - who play basketball, all year around. Yea hitting shots in a relaxed open gym is gonna pretty easy for alot of them
We knew Cam has been a good shooter
so hitting three pointers in practice to be expected

I am encouraged that Cliff did also

Even if it was practice, it is good to see that he is capable of hitting them, I would have guessed it was a weakness in his game, hard to overcome

It tells us he might be able to help us more this year and be a better pro prospect

I am not still not sold on Cliff as an offensive force. I really haven't seen a lot of creativity around the hoop, in the half court, to make me believe he will blossom offensively. I do think he is a gifted shot blocker and a very good rebounder who runs the floor as well as any big man in the country.

18-20 from 3 is impressive in any setting
I've shot 23-25 in a 3 pt contest in practice before. Wasn't even the best shooter on the team. If you shoot alot, it becomes easy. Theirs stories of basketball players shooting for hours, without missing a shot

Couldn’t disagree more. He’s just getting started as a player. You’re going to see a polished offensive force by the end of the season

The point of the thread was he passed along a personal observation from pre-game. Better than starting another ot thread on some inane topic.

I'm sold that Cliff will be a solid offensive contributor. He will get his points and he'll be a force. However, I'm not sold that he can be a focal point, make the big shot from outside when it counts, and manufacture points in the post when the rest of the offense stalls. When all else falls, a dump into the post for a polished big man can be a lifeline for a team. Is Cliff that guy for us?

Cliff has been practicing to expand his toolbox beyond dunking. He clearly has the physical talent to do it. However it takes time, often years, to be able to reliably find your spot and execute your move in a game. The difference between success and failure is a few clankers, a few strips in the paint, a few dribbles off the foot, per game. That's polish.

Supremely talented people polish up quicker. It will be fun to watch and see how he develops. That's why college ball is fun.

Yes, players shoot for hours without missing. This is the most made up story ever
Not out of my mouth. Somebody literally on ESPN said he watched Reggie Miller shoot for 3 hrs before an event. And Reggie did not miss one shot. I've heard it said about Steph Curry and JR Smith. I didn't make up a thing I said
