Yes, nay sayers can jump in, but the team looks more athletic, seems to have more scoring options. The back ups did well for the first game. Shots didnt fall last night as we hoped, but I saw a team working well together on night one. I feel like we have more depth on the front than in the past. Looking forward to the season! Reiber and Palmquist both have improved as well.

Good use of the bench now while we have wiggle room as well.

I don’t know how you can make all those conclusions based on last night. I can’t make any conclusions on the team because the emotion and jitters of last night clearly impacted our play.
But Cliff’s athleticism definitely caught my eye. And he rebounded in traffic. And that hook shot.

Hyatt, Cliff and RHJ were the only bright spots for me.

Hyatt is going to be a big time player for us.

I think we came in too excited under estimating a team that we were 20 pt favs too. There did seem to be a lid on the rim also while Lehigh seemingly dropped everything and we still won. Shouldn’t of been tight but I expect the next few OOC to be double digit wins.

To me it always seems our defense is a step slow early in a year, and that we will get killed later on when playing a better team...... it often does not happen, our defense gets good enough at the proper time

Reminded me of the Bryant game two years ago, as some have mentioned

I wouldnt say I was pleased with last night's performance in any way. BUT I can see the potential for this team. Cliff looks to be much improved, just has to cut down on the fouls. I think Hyatt is going to help. Jones will probably contribute a lot more on the offensive end as the season progresses. Lehigh shot lights out in the beginning of the game and that gave them the confidence that they could win. Also we need to work on not letting guys get to the basket so easily. All stuff that can be corrected.

While the outcome matters, I'm thinking of this game as exhibition-like. It gave Pike a good opportunity to try some different things and help him evaluate who his go-to 8sh are for when conference place starts.

I said this in another thread. But I wasn't seeing good team chemistry on the court last night. Far too much 1v1 and far too little team-play on offense. And on defense, it was just a poor effort all around.

I guess I disagree with the premise of the OP.

Having said that, it's just one game and I'm not gonna reach any conclusions about the team based on one game. Or five games even. If we go all season long without great team chemistry, without much team-play on offense, and with poor effort on defense, but win all our games, I'd take that. LOL
