Eddy was awful. Couldn’t make a shot. Kept dropping the ball. Williams played much better. They needed to feed him earlier and more.
He turned it over too much, but he was 5-7 from the floor…he’s such a difference maker at the defensive end and probably the best rebounder in the country. Painter had to find a way to get the two bigs on the court together, but never did it. Edey is way too good to only play 16 minutes against an undermanned team unless he’s in foul trouble, but he committed none.

Ivey and Davis from Wisconsin are the 2 most over rated players in the league.

Ivey is 1 dimensional, just driving to the basked.

Davis did NOTHING for his team in the NCAAs, missed shot after shot after shot.

Edey sucks as well, can't catch, has no touch, slow as molasses

Ivey is a one trick pony. I said that after our 2nd Purdue game when the refs totally bailed out his ****** drives all night. Where my Purdue boys at now lol!

There was one play later I the second half where Edey was very close to a loose ball and he didn’t get to it before a St Peter’s player. He looked like he was moving half as fast as his opponent. Glacially slow.

What a great game by St. Peters. Totally took Purdue out of their offensive rhythm. When Trevion Williams got a 3 point play instead of a travel, I thought that would be the straw to break St. Peter's back. But they came back from it and yes, that foul, putting St. Peters on the line instead of a shot clock violation, was the game deciding play.

While I'm admittedly jealous of St. Peters (and Miami's) magic carpet ride to the elite 8, it makes the tournament extra awesome.

That was an embarrassing effort by Purdue no getting around that. You have to win that game if your Purdue.

Inch for inch, Edey is the worst player in B1G - so overrated. Painter plays him way too much instead of Williams who is a real pro.
Edey’s numbers are better than Williams…better rebounder (he’s the #1 offensive rebounder in the country), better FG%, fewer turnovers, more blocks. Williams passes the ball better, but that’s about it. But again, I don’t see how they couldn’t have played Williams at the 4 some and got them out there together.

Ivey played the worst game of his college career. Totally forcing everything. Purdue played the dumbest basketball I have seen in some time in last 3 minutes. Purdue pissed that game away!
Ivey made the 3 pointer near the end of the game to give Purdue a chance for taking the game into overtime. His overall performance was abysmal similar to Purdue as a team that struggled to score 64 points.

What a great game by St. Peters. Totally took Purdue out of their offensive rhythm.
both teams in the locker room at halftime, making preparations for the second half

Purdue comes out and does not score a point for over 5 minutes......credit the continued defensive effort by St Peters and the poor halftime offensive moves by Purdue.

How about Matt Painter, when he has a 7’4” center that has about 8 inches on his defender and disrupts things at the other end, yet only plays him 16 minutes.
Painter got outcoached big time…but Edey absolutely sucked last night. He had some points but had at least 5 turnovers, couldn’t hold onto the ball and missed a bunch of chippies. He may have altered some shot, but he had 1 block and 2 rebounds in 17 minutes.

The Purdue guards were horrible and couldn’t hit him with good passes. Hunter, was terrible as he has been almost all year. He couldn’t defend the St. Peter’s guards, and had 0 points in 31 minutes. Stefonovich is a one truck pony and the same underachiever he’s been for 4 year….and quite honestly I don’t even know what to say about Ivey..I’ve never seen him play worse. He was possibly the 4th best guard on the court …and he’s a lottery pick.

The biggest problem was that Painter and all of his 4 star players had no idea how to attack the St. Peter’s defense. Except to get the ball to Williams and hope he scored down low with two players draped on him.

Painter has 3 of the toughest players to defend in the country but really only has 2 since there are never more than 2 of them on the court at any given time.

If this game was played in December, Purdue wins by 30….but it’s not.

Don't get the "one trick pony" comment on Ivey.... he's very good at driving to the rim, but 41% of his shots are from the arc and he hits at a .358 rate.

Edey played terribly, and SPU wasn't a good matchup for him. The refs were allowing SPU to push him 5-6 feet away from the basket, and he was abyssmal from there, coughing up the ball 5 times and grabbing just 2 rebounds in 17 minutes. He isn't nearly as a crafty getting to the rim as Williams is from that spot, or as good at getting position for rebounds. He's slow of foot and couldn't defend SPU's smaller/faster bigs - he really had an awful game and SPU did a good job denying him the ball where he wanted it.

Either way, it wasn't Edey/Williams that lost the game for Purdue..... they average a combined 26.4 pts, and they got 27. In contrast, Ivey/Hunter usually average 23.5 pts and managed just 9.

How about Stefanovic diving on the floor and fouling a guy on a loose ball 40 feet from the basket with 3 seconds on the shot clock. Smh
If you’re talking about the play near the end of the game that was Gillis. It was a tough break because the little guy on St Peter’s is much quicker than anyone on the floor so he squeezed himself between Gillis and the ball.

Just zero awareness of the situation. The ball got tapped loose with 4 seconds on the shot clock, and you're diving in traffic for it? Stay on your feet and it's a shot clock violation. Basketball IQ of 0 there.

Definitely should have kept his feet but you’re being a little harsh. Purdue was seriously out hustled by st Petes. Gillis was the ONLY guy making hustle plays down the stretch but in that spot he tried to do too much. Plus as I said in his mind he gets to that ball 99 times out of a hundred but he’s not used to playing little quick guys like that. It happens. It happened at a bad time but it happens all of the time in the heat of the moment. You watch enough games to know this.

Your best player and projected Top 5 draft pick needs to step up and be a leader in a game like this. What I saw from Ivey was the opposite. Frustrated, lost his cool, dribbled off his leg, bad decisions on shots and passes.
