No, everybody back then hated that style and wanted it to be less physicalI don't know man. The game has lost TONS of popularity because of this style today. The 80's and 90's were the height of NBA popularity. There's no debating it.
Only because of Michael Jordan. I guess we just disagree but I can tell you I quit watching for 20 years because of players like Shaq and Rodman.I don't know man. Then you have old retired players like Oscar Robertson saying Buddy Hield is better. LolGuys, I'd keep my eye on this Curry kid. Think he's gonna be a good one.
That was a freebie.

Like I said, that poll is extremely extremely misleading. They changed it 2002-2003 by the way after JordanSo thats why the NBA is almost on par with American Soccer? Because they wanted a change from when it was at its highest popularity?
I think I'm figuring you out whiteness........slowly but surely. ......[cheers]

Might I suggest Greco Roman wrestling to you. I think you'd love it.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:No actually the NBA was on par with Football because the game itself was far more entertaining. Better players with better personalities and studs on many teams. Today is meh.......it's ok. Like I said, the p[popularity has tanked for a reason.
But we just disagree on this one,.....no harm no foul...
Because they wanted a change from when it was at its highest popularity?
It's at its highest popularity right now, you flipping nitwit. Global popularity and revenue coming into the league is hgher than ever before in its history. So is overall skill level and qualiity of play. Just a fact. Sorry if it pops your old timer "what I wish were true but aren't" delusions.
Lockout in 1998, Jordan retiring, Malice at the Palace, Hip Hop culture backlash, Lockout in 2012, cord cutting, etc all contributed to that
Not to mention that the salary cap is set to rise by about 30 mill per team for next year. Yeah, that's clearly the sign of a league with waning popularity.Last year's finals highest post-Jordan http://www.sbnation.com/2015/6/17/8...-tv-ratings-abc-nielsen-warriors-vs-cavaliers

Look, nit witty twit, Popularity in the NBA is down, and has been down, and you're a GD moron if you don't understand it. walk around and find a die hard NBA guy who gives a ish.
You are so damn clueless about the world at large.
No, the League's popularity is certainly not "down." Sorry, but that's just the truth. Maybe it doesn't seem that way in whatever corner of redneckville you reside, but in the world overall the League is far more popular than ever before. Do you think anyone was watching the NBA in China back in 1980 when you were enamored with young Larry and Magic? Nope. But guess what, now they are, passionately, in unprecedented numbers, all over the world. That's the difference.
And that has also resulted in unprecedented money flowing into the League from all over the world. I mean, my god, have you seen these recent TV contracts? You don't think the league's doing well? Well, I'm afraid the League's reps are too busy wading through all these piles of money pouring on top their heads to address your provincial concerns.
How much does Kobe make every time he sells some Kobe beef?
hey dipshit, do yourself a favor and read the many articles about the "declining" popularity of the NBA.
Please link me some of these "many articles" from the last few years. I'd be curious to hear what they say.
NBA >>>>>> over college BB right now.
According to the Harris Poll, the NBA isn't even among the top three sports in regards to fan interest in the U.S.

Nationally it ranks behind auto racing. It's barely above ice hockey.
1.NFL
2. MLB
3. NCAA Football
4. Auto racing
5. NBA
6. NHL
American Idol and Survivor are popular.
Steph w 400 3's on the season is crazy
I agree. I can't watch the NBA unless it's the playoffs. Regular season games are a joke, it looks like guys are just going through the motions. At least you arent denying it's down though........
I was just messin with ya. But the game isn't as fun as it used to be to me. I just turned 30, and I love seeing Uk boys in the league, but the game itself is just bland. Especially during the season. Different strokes for different folks.
Curry is crazy though. Still can't figure out how he's so open all the time though.
