Please apply!

Objective : Implement a cohesive, fluid offense that doesn’t solely rely on 3 point shots and alley oops to its big men

Maybe can develop spacing in the game plan; a back door play every so often and an offense that will keep the defense guessing.

I actually see that we run an offense...the issue is 3-fold:

1) too many selfish 1;1 players
2) the above also leads to less assists
3) TERRIBLE off the ball movement and low
IQ in that area

mod you watch this Nebraska game they would double Myles or cliff and weak side player doesn’t even move from 3. Stands there instead of cutting to the basket for an easy pass and/or layup.
Essentially it makes us look like we don’t run an offense when in fact we do but just too much standing around by players unless they are touching the ball. Look at all the movement by Nebraska and how they got so many good looks

This I completely agree with. I don’t know how many times I post in the game thread “everyone’s just standing around” but it’s a lot. If there is any movement it’s a nonchalant jog to the other side of the court. I don’t know if it’s coaching or the players but something is getting lost in communication and it’s not being fixed.

That falls directly on Pike and he’s failing miserably. Nebraska got so many easy looks because of movement and passing. Our offense if you can call it one none. Whatever we run the implementation on the court and coaching is absolute sh*t.

How about ever setting an off the ball screen well this is all on the coaching

The strangest thing is that Eddie Jordan could help in this area. Izzo said Jordan had an offensive plan that "gave us fits." For how bad Jordan was, he could coach offense. His sets were excellent and players were put in position to score. Unfortunately, Jordan did not recruit or develop players, cared little about defense, ran awful practices, and rebounding was something he refused to teach, which led to noncompetitive games on a regular basis.

Yup. I said about a year ago that eddie would be an absolute MONEY hire. If brandin knight gets a head coaching opportunity eddie would be #1 on my list of guys to at least try to hire.

some nj aau guys im friendly with said that eddie was an offensive guru, he just put in no effort to land kids

It’s not the offensive game plan. We can’t shoot. That’s a major problem. We have open threes all over the place and we still throw up bricks. Teams condense down low and leave our outside shooting open because they know we can’t make shots from out there
The woeful offense has multiple problems that have been stated time and again during the season. It starts with the lack of shooters and expands to the failure of coaches to run a offense where points can be generated with passing and player movement.Long scoring droughts have become too frequent and the lack of leadership on the court just compounds the problem.

I still don't understand how all 3 of our coaches are guards and Brandin Knight was one of the best guards in the Big East and we still can't come up with a basic offense!!!!

Maybe because like women's soccer, defense is emphasized so much there is not enough time allocated for offense? Our defensive effort was lousy last night as well, so practices in general must not be very productive these days.
That is what bugged me the most about last night was the effort and lack of hustle, desire, attitude...etc. There is just no excuse for that. And it is not the first time I have felt that way.

As far as I am concerned, the program (coaches and players) deserve pretty much whatever level of criticism one wants to lay on them this morning. This one is going to linger regardless of what happens the rest of the way.

Yes, let’s replace our top recruiter with a guy who doesn’t want to recruit at all and who’s philosophy doesn’t mesh at all with the rest of the staff.
