Think there's probably a pretty pleasant team meeting coming up re: the wacky tahbaccy or nah?

It's 2019, how are you still smoking weed in your own dorm room? Can somebody get these guys some damn edibles so it's not so obvious?
Under and oz. of weed is an infraction, max $300 fine. In Lancaster County, edibles are charged as felony possession.

Yawn. Campus police and RAs need to find something better to occupy their time.:rolleyes:Smokin
While this is true and I agree, the same could be said for any football players that can’t stay off weed. Probably the most over hyped experience and definitely not worth the trouble. All that being said, I wish Nebraska and the federal government would legalize it.

There's plenty of students who don't smoke and I don't blame anyone for reporting it. When you have a bunch of people living in a small space, maybe it's best to show some respect and find somewhere off campus to smoke where you're much less likely to get caught.

Quite literally they walk through the dorms floor by floor and go through the greek houses to try to catch people.
I remember those days! That awkward moment when you walk out of your room and see a UNLPD officer with his ear against your neighbor's door...

I remember our dorm floors were often almost like "neighborhood watch" ; a text would get put out something along the lines of, "dont clink any bottles!!" Laughing

I dare you to drive through Lincoln without seeing at least a couple cops. Then the University has its own police, then the "Community Service Officers" who are truly the boredest of the bored.

It's really stupid, IMO. You're endangering the students and the city's populace by essentially forcing students to leave campus where they live to go get drunk/high and then travel back home to sleep it off. All feels more set up to make money than to actually ensure the well-being of students.

This may all be true without a doubt but it was also 40-41 years ago and everyone was COOL ;)not like the present...Winking

During the next round of facility upgrades, they may want to consider some special amenities in the players' lounge like a max airflow negative pressure system with HEPA and charcoal filters, a high volume quick flush disposal system and/or hidden and secure storage lockers with a false facade, and of course plenty of vending machines and gaming systems.

I almost wonder if they smoke it in their dorms BECAUSE they think it isn't a big deal, you know what I mean?

I can still remember sneaking booze up in the dorms. We treated that like we were ****ing SEAL Team 6 staging a raid on Bin *******.

1. Don't do it on a Friday unless it is early in the day, much better to sneak it up early in the week.

2. Have a friend go in first and get the elevator open.

3. Don't have too much **** in your backpack.

4. Taking the stairs SEEMS like a good idea until you realize that you live on the 11th floor.

5. If you get bottles, make sure you can pack them so they don't make noise.
And if you're smoking, keep the A/C running,
lay a towel across the door,
Put a sack over the smoke detector,
And for the love of God do NOT open the door while someone is exhaling after taking a hit

If “law enforcement” is truly making the rounds floor by floor trying to detect that very unique aroma, this is over the top. I live in CO and personally hate the stuff. You can smell it everywhere you go here. Sports venues, ski slopes, out on the town, practically all public places or where people gather. I wish it wasn’t there but It’s gotten to the point that when you smell it you know what it is and kind of just move on.

I understand it’s against the law in NE. This is going to put SF in a tough position in terms of handing out discipline if this dorm sniffing continues. I think it will potentially cost us a game if kids are forced to sit out gamed as a consequence of getting caught with some weed. If the same standard was used with having a beer, I suspect the majority of the team would frequently be in trouble.

Again, as someone who has not an issue with the cheeb and thinks its prohibition idiotic, a very simple solution for NU FB players is not to partake while they are on the roster. Or at least realize that the local gendarmes and campus Barneys are going to be a pain in the *** about it and be smarter about the where, when and how. Take a walk with a one hitter and find a spot with some seclusion.

Great point
For those that say kick him off here is a question , how many employers today would fire someone for the same charge? I would say very few.

You can't hide the smell these days. The weed is just way too pungent now. Best bet is to burn some incense for plausible deniability.

It's not overhyped at all, especially for the rigors that these guys are putting their bodies through.

Did you guys know that college kids drink too?
Yep, and if they got caught underage drinking it would still be illegal. They can smoke and drink all they want for all I care. As long as it isn't interfering with what they are suppose to be do school wise and football wise. Also as long it isn't a distraction to the team. If they are showing up to classes and all football activities giving 100% who cares. Why are they being stupid and getting caught doing it. It really isn't that hard. These kids are in the public eye, stuff like this isn't a huge deal, but it still draws negative attention to the program. I question their intelligence is situation like this.

Personally I don’t approve of marijuana, and I don’t support legalization. That said, I’d be naive to deny the fact that marijuana does not carry the stigma that it once did, and it should not carry the same punishment. Frankly I find a DUI much more severe.

I don’t think any kid should kicked off JUST for marijuana. Extra stairs, conditioning, whatever, yes. Kicked off? No. Unless it comes in conjunction with other infractions.
