<!--?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?-->Lots can be said about Leach as a coach, but one major key is that he brought his entire offensive staff with him from WSU. He didn’t need to coach his staff on how he wanted things done. They knew the system already. They knew how the OL and the inside WR’s and outside WRs and RB s all worked together. That was a huge benefit. I know a lot of people said, “Who is Mele?” And “Who is Miller or Nickel”? But they were just what the offense needed.

Zach Arnett might need a raise already. His squad outperformed expectations. I know it was a “new” LSU. But they were still loaded with 4/5 star talent. And Arnett schemed them and confused them enough to get the win. Brennan didn’t look good first half. But the guy has a good arm. But the Defense had Brennan confused enough to make slower decisions. And they held LSU to < 100 yards rushing. We all expected to put up points this year. If the defense can be just average in the SEC, the outlook is bright.

The defense was ready to hit hard and keep hitting hard throughout the game.

LSU did lost a lot from last year’s 15-0 team. But MSU lost many key players from last year's 6-7 team. Plus a completely new coaching staff and scheme. And for all the talk of Joe Brady and his influence, LSU did not get a new Offensive Coordinator. Ensminger has been there since 2010 and OC since 2018.

Tyson Brown (another WSU guy) needs a raise too. Those guys were in shape and running. We’ll need that conditioning as the season progresses.

The publicity alone from the weekend news about MSU breaking SEC records as they took down the defending national champs shows that Mike Leach is worth his contract.

I don’t know if I’m ready to open up the wallet yet but with that small sample, I’m pretty impressed with what we did on Saturday.
