Not saying this didn't happen, but is there any other source besides renowned troll Peter Vescey?

Bradley Beal (when healthy) is the only other decent young player on that roster. Agreed that Wall needs some more help.

He has improved his game, plays hard and pretty much was the only thing from the Wizards from being a dormant and he at least made them respectable. The vets are old and Beal is unreliable. Wall is not a 20 plus scoring PG, he needs to be in a system where he is a creator more than a scorer.

I don't blame him for being mad. His best years are being wasted.

Not seeing anything else anywhere. Report is only 3 hours old, but you have a good point.

It's been great seeing so many of our players go to lottery teams, many of whom went to top5 teams. But man, those teams are usually hot garbage and rarely move out of the pits. I feel bad for our guys, or ANY top player for that matter, who plays his *** off all season.. and is rewarded with spending the first half of his career stuck on a garbage franchise.

The draft process is good for the leagues themselves, no doubt.. but many, it sure does suck if you're a top player.

I almost wonder if it'd be better to sandbag the second half of your season to get drafted later in the lottery. Heck, if I was the #1 player in the nation, I might just haul off and sock an official in the face, drop 15 spots because "he's a headcase".. get drafted by the Bulls or Boston, and then say "Yeah, that was staged, I had no desire of playing for the 76ers and wasting my entire career"

Washington is tough (as in bad) I would like to see some UK guys on better teams and in the playoffs. I think Wall and Davis are in tough spots

Washington has been decent the last two years. Injuries hurt this year. Losing Paul Pierce didn't help.

The bad thing is there isn't much difference between 2 through 8 in the East this year. Shame Washington couldn't get enough done to slide in.

It's John Wall, occasionally Bradley Beal (when he isn't out with an injury), and a bunch of role players on that team. He needs some more talent around him, his skills are being wasted in Washington, and I feel like his numbers would be a lot better if he did go to another team.
There's a pretty solid chance that Wall and Boogie get reunited again. If it happens, Wall will probably find it refreshing to have a better center than freakin' Marcin Gortat.

None of this matters...if you are Cleveland you don't have a chance in the next 3-5 years.

Best thing for him is to play out his contract then go sign on a winning team. He did the right thing, get the max 2nd contract and make your money. He'll still be in his 20's when his deal is up, prime age.

I heard rumors before they signed their extensions that Wall and Cousins were going to try and get back together in the NBA. Really wish they would. Add a good scoring wing or 2 guard and you have the makings of a top team.

I feel bad for Wall. The Wizards have really bungled the draft and trades. They could have had James Harden in a strait-up swap for what ended up being the Beal pick. There's no question that Harden would have been a much better player for the franchise, even if Beal was cheaper.

Then there is their horrible draft history. 2011 Jan Vesley? That was awful, even considering how overall terrible the 2011 draft was. They could have easily had Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Tobias Harris, Kenneth Farried, or Jimmy Butler.

In 2012, like I said the passed up Harden for the opportunity to draft Beal. They probably thought they were getting an equivalent player at a cheaper price. I think given Beal's reputation he was probably the choice at #3, but it's interesting to think what could have happened if they picked Damian Lillard, Harrison Barnes or Andre Drummond with that pick. They also had a shot at Draymond Green in the second round, but chose Tomas Satoransky instead. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.

In 2013 the Wizards picked up Otto Porter at #3 (who has grown into a decent role player) over Nerlens Noel and the Greek Freak.

In 2014 they only had a 2nd round pick. Drafted well by getting Jordan Clarkson, but then traded him to LA.

Wiz are a bit of a up/down roster process.

1. Their best team, IMO, was 2 years ago with newly acquired Gortat, Beal and Wall were gelling, Trevor Ariza had a really good year at SF and Nene was still decent....and an average bench.
2. The next offseason they decide to pay Gortat and let Ariza walk to Houston...and they get Pierce as as stopgap SF.
3. Then they go really cheap and Pierce bolts and were hoping Porter was ready to be starting SF. They lose some bench guys. Nene has basically fallen apart physically and commands a huge salary. Then Beal does his typical missing 1/4 of the season with injuries.

Going forward...
1. Wall is a great assist PG and solid scorer. But he does not need to shooting this many shots a night as his FG % tumbles into 42% range.
2. Now that Nene is off the books that frees up alot of money...but it looks like Wiz are happy to let Morris twin take the PF spot...which I think is a mistake.
3. Beal needs to play 70+ games...he misses alot of the games and Wiz have no legit scoring option besides him and Wall.
4. Porter is a pretty solid SF now and hopefully improves a bit more next year.
5. The big monkey in the room is they needed to get a bigtime PF/SF...and was hoping Durant could be that guy pay him max money and move the parts needed to make that happen.

But it looks like the Wiz are going to sit with the roster they have with Morris Twin at PF and shell out money to Beal. I don't understand how Cavs can pay Lebron, Irving, Love and good contracts to Tristan Thompson, Mozgov, etc.. and Wiz can't pay more than 3 guys legit money?

That's probably a better way to put it.

There are quite a few all-star caliber players in 2011. They were just drafted all over the place.
5 NBA All-Stars: Kyrie Irving (drafted #1), Klay Thompson (#11), Kawhi Leonard (#15), Jimmy Butler (#30) and Isaiah Thomas (#60). 4 near All-Stars: Brandon Knight (#8)(would have been in 2015 if he hadn't been traded right before the teams were announced), Kenneth Farried (#22), Kemba Walker (#9), and Reggie Jackson (#24). And a host of solid contributors: Enes Kanter (#3), Tristan Thompson (#4), Morris twins (#13 and #14), Iman Shumpert (#17), Tobias Harris (#19), and Chandler Parsons (#38).

Thibbs is a free agent coach? Shown he can produce at a high level with D-Rose when healthy, and when he wasnt healthy he made the Bulls a formidable force without a star.

Vesley has been the only complete bust headscratcher pick they've made since Wall got there. I still feel like Otto Porter was a better pick than Noel for them because they need(ed) another scorer. The biggest problem with Washington has been Beal's health. I feel like they've done the best they can to get Wall help, but Washington is not a huge free agent destination spot. Outside of that all they can do really is hope they get lucky in the draft lottery and land a top five pick at some point.

Or, they could trade for a player on the cusp of becoming a top-5 caliber player at the risk of losing Brad Beal.

I'm sure you could go back and nit-pick any franchises draft selections like this and find players that the franchise passed on who ultimately turned out to be better than their selection. Minnesota during the late 2000s until KAT is incredible. They passed on Steph Curry.... twice. Picked Wes Johnson over Boogie. And picked Derrick Williams in 2011 over.... well a lot of good players.

I don't think any team would give up a player with any sort of upside for Brad Beal right now with his injury history. He's pretty much unmovable. His contract expires this summer and i'm sure Washington plans to lets him walk unless he's willing to take a bit of a paycut to make room for another impact player.

I agree with you.. I was referring to Washington passing on the James Harden trade.

Wash is a loser organization

Yeah. I grew up not too far from Washington. They were God awful in their last years as the Bullets and then first few Wizards years. They've gotten a lot better as I've gotten older age wise, but still haven't really done anything of note (not even an Eastern Conference Finals appearance).

The bobble head was the last straw.

Although I heard he denied the report about cussing out Wittman in practice, nicely done.

Damn, they don't even have a pick in the upcoming draft? No bueno..

I don't know why they don't have a second round pick, but they won't have a first rounder since they traded it to Phoenix for Markieff Morris. It's top 9 protected, but it appears as though their pick will fall somewhere in the 10-14 range, so that means they'd lose it.

Would love to see Cleveland trade Kyrie for Wall. Cavs need a true pg that can run the team, play D and distribute the ball. Kyrie is horrible at D and way to selfish on offense.

I don't understand why young players are so willing to resign with loser organizations after their rookie contracts are up. Why waste your prime years on a team with no shot at winning a title? It also makes the NBA less interesting when the young talent is rarely on display on their biggest stage in the playoffs. I mean, I can only get so excited about a playoff series between OKC and San Antonio when both teams have had the exact same rosters and star players for the last ten years. For me it goes back to the point that I think there are too many teams in the NBA. The talent is too widely dispersed. Sorry, went on a bit of a rant there.

yes - and this is the reason I never understood all the criticism thrown at LeBron for going to Miami. Cleveland had shown no interest in doing anything to improve it's chances at a title, they were just going to ride LeBron as far as he could take them. Many people, including ex-players, said the move to Miami - teaming up with Wade and Bosh to form a sort of all-star team - was "cowardly" somehow, that he should have stayed in Cleveland to prove he could do it on his own?

What? Makes absolutely no sense. Short career, if you have leverage to make your team get better, use it, if not leave.

the wiz went all in a few years ago getting some older guys. nene, gortat, and paul pierce. i think trading away ariza was a mistake. i think they were banking on porter being the SF of the future. but wall, beal, and ariza had something cooking that one year.

but no piece is gone, nene and gortat are old and not as effective. and there has been talk this year locally that beal is going to have chronic foot problems and some dont want to extend a max deal to him. so its possible he can walk soon if some other team puts serious cash on the table.

if so...wall would be on that team from square one.

It'll all be good when they ink Durant this summer.

I have to think that's what all this is leading up to. If not, Ernie Grunfeld should follow Wittman out the door. They simply have to make a splash in the free agent market this summer if they want to have a chance at keeping Wall.
