I enjoy the Alexandria storyline in the comics too.

I like the Alexandria storyline for what it is. I loved in for leading into Negan and All Out War though.

Ok, I know that most people probably never caught on to this, but having actually lived in "Old Town" Alexandria, Arlington, VA an Washington DC for a decade or so, I had to laugh at the scene where they're driving along and the Capital and Washington monument suddenly come into view.

From the placement of the Capital and Washington Monument, it was clear that the view was from the George Washington Parkway, well North of Alexandria and Arlington. If they were coming from GA, SC, & NC and heading north to Alexandria, VA the view would have been entirely different as they wouldn't have even been able to see the Capital or the Washington Monument.

About the closest Alexandria comes to the Washington Monument is about 6 miles, nearly due south, and the view to the monument is non-existent. I know they wanted to show DC in some way, but they could have done a better job of it than trying to play something about 15 miles north of where the characters are supposed to be as part of the natural progression of driving from the south to reach Alexandra.

I like the episode a lot. I haven't read the graphic novels, so am very curious as to what they find behind those gates.

I guess it could have been a recording, but we did hear children's laughter behind the gates. In contrast to the point that Rick made to Michonne about what they had heard at every other place they entered.

Oh, I know. But, you and I both know that this place is not going to turn out to be a happy, safe haven where they have no worries. If that were to happen, the show would not be entertaining anymore.

It never is.

Is this going to get old though? Every season they find a "safe" place that turns out to not be safe? Not much else you can do with a zombie apocalypse, but seems like this could lead to boredom with the show. Of course it could just be a season long version of a CSI or Law & Order where the same things happens every episode.

I was wondering the same thing. I guess the show can't last forever, and will only continue as long as their strong ratings continue. I find it even more mystifying that they have announced a spin off set in the L.A. area. It seems like they can only come up with so many interesting storylines, and having to spread them between 2 groups of people will dilute both shows.

In the comic books, they are presently at a point where the zombies are more of an afterthought than a huge threat. The storyline now has more to do with internal struggles for power and authority in the human communities.
