Iowa Western stats show 13 for 16 on FG’s and 40 for 42 in PAT’s.

Long was 47. Looks like a solid pickup. Should give Pickering some competition.

WHO???? Pickering is like a UFO....some of us may have seen one....but we were not sure what it was.

Need to find a punter also, Armstrong was only decent when lightborne was given him competition, when he left Armstrong regressed

Hard to believe, but we might have been a minimum two wins better if we simply had an average or slightly better kicking game. Literally no other changes. It gives me a migraine.

Yeah, right. The difference between us contending for first in the West and not being bowl eligible is... the kicker. :rolleyes:Laughing

Actually I think Armstrong was similar this year versus last year. He's never had a big leg. He just didn't shank it as much as Lightborne did. He's not great but he's not terrible. He only had one really awful punt that I can remember and I think that led to a score due to a short field.

Yep. Definitely would have been bowl eligible with a decent kicker. Decent kicker puts in endzone and we beat iowa

And he didn’t say a word about contending for first in the West. He said bowl eligible. Don’t twist his words just to try and poke fun.

yes sir, not having ok to decent kicker early on hurt us in a number of games. Being forced to go for it on 4th downs instead of kicking FGs. We missed out a bunch of 3 point scores. And us not having a place kicker worth dam at all, all year long (one that puts it out of the end zone like you said). We’d definitely be bowl eligible with a good kicker.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Waldoch's accuracy of late. Don't know his range though. We need a kickoff guy who can put it in the endzone every time.

Lighten up, Francis.

You think South Alabama, Northwestern, and Illinois aren't also playing the "if only" game about their losses to us?

S-Bama and Illinois weren't close. We ran 80 plays against Illinois...we were going to score a td on every drive thereafter. NW was a toss-up but so was Colorado, Indiana, Purdue, Iowa... and Wisky was a game if we didn't have to cover kickoffs.

Maybe a change in ST coaching duties or assign someone specifically. I cant see all of our kickers going downhill at the same time without there being something else involved. Maybe if 1 guy but all of them? Pick was injured so that is huge. He could be really good. Armstrong isnt bad either but just dont have that big leg it seems.

Illinois was up by 14 in the third, and still in the lead halfway through the 4th quarter. But yeah, that "wasn't close".

South Alabama was only down 7 starting the 4th when our defense managed to score a TD. And that was the end of scoring. They are definitely saying "what if" against what was then a ranked team.

I realize we lost several close games, but when you play the "what if" game, you have to realize it goes both ways.

And no, the Indiana game was not all that close. They won by 7 and could have scored again on their final drive if they wanted. Wisconsin was in control the entire game. Purdue was only close because they were missing all their best players.
