This kid looks like a beast!

You know, a few years back, we had a thread going talking about how back in the good old days, Nebraska Football had a huuuuge abundance of walk-on players, and that one of the reasons the program slid (one of MANY reasons) is that those players were not valued as highly by new coaches, and so they started going on scholarship to places like SDSU, North Dakota State, Colorado State, etc.

But, in reality, having those players elect to walk on here means your level of competition is always high (scholarship players versus walk-ons), and you get the whole "cannon fodder" bonus of having your scholarship guys get challenged by a swarm of local/regional walk-ons who all are fighting as hard as they possibly can to earn a starting or even back-up role. It only makes the program better to increase competition that way!

I love the resurgence of the walkon program getting tons of kids turning down lower division scholly offers. This absolutely improves the program and the culture.

After McCormack won MVP at Rivals camp I was hoping he’d stay in Lincoln.

My buddy introduced me to James Burks, RB from Burke. He’s a great wrestler and Hudl film shows his physicality. He put up huge numbers this year and won state championship. He’d be another excellent walk on to snag.
