Yeah and guess what? you can wish all you want but you’ll never have another class to love like this one without Cal!! Look, I understand frustration but if you can’t see that Cal is trying his damndest to get this program back to where we all wanna be??? Let the man do his work! When he’s at his best there’s no one in the country better!

Recruiting wise, I agree. It’s the coaching bit that we’d have to disagree on. Plenty of guys do it better. And that’s the issue.

I hate Bill Self. He’s an arrogant prick. He has had some St. Peter’s moments. But if he had the talent Cal has had, he’d have won more titles with it than Cal.

But for you and me, it’s a difficult hypothetical argument to have. Because it’s just impossible to know what kind of results others would have with the talent that’s come through Lexington. And the fact that we’re UK, gives Cal a recurring advantage as well.

That's why Cal needs a team that even he can't mess up, it looks like next year is gonna be one of those years. I mean let's be real Cal has a pretty damn good shot to go back to back here and ride off into the sunset!

And if Cal could coach like Phil Jackson he’d be even better. You don’t see how hypocritical it is to say that if these other coaches could recruit like Cal they would be better then him? That’s part of his talent is recruiting. Others can’t do it like him

I am reading that Cal wants to limit the current team to an 8 man rotation. If that proves true it is another coaching mistake once again. I hope it is just coach speak. So, why mention that in this thread? For the same reason that some are taking what appears to be extremely positive recruiting news and making it negative. I can't argue with that either. You can have a talented roster year after year but unless the coaching decisions change and evolve how will the outcome change? Again, I hope some of what is said is coach speak perhaps to motivate rather than taking the huge advantage of the current team and removing it. Time will tell.

Then it's a good thing that Cal is outpacing our historical average for national titles. Not sure why UK fans want to be worse, but a lot of people are just stupid.

Absolutely nobody. He and people who think like him are asking for UK to go to the gutter. Absolutely no foresight from them. There's always someone better in their imaginations.

I honestly think it’s a serious comment. I honestly agree 100%. I’m honestly as big of a UK fan as anyone and Triple C is a PR wizard but a terrible coach when you look at his epic failures with NBA talent year in and year out.

You’re missing the point lol. He’s asking what coach is a better combination of BOTH coaching *and* recruiting. Sure, Self is a better coach, but you responding back saying “if he had Cal’s talent…” is only proving OP’s point. He can’t get Cal’s talent.

Which is why his question is a good one. Who is a better combo of coaching and recruiting?

Exactly.

A huge part of college coaching IS recruiting. That's a huge part of the position. And it has to be factored in when people judge Cal.
