Because they are beating the super-young Washington team at the half?

I seem to recall Baylor feeling pretty good around this point as well.

In other news, QG appears to be largely a non-factor even for Pac-12 basketball. I truly hope he does well, but it seems leaving Kentucky was beneficial to both parties.

15 assists on 15 made baskets is pretty strong. Shooting 55% against a zone always helps.

But as was already referenced, Vols are thin/inexperienced in the post and the Huskies have already proven comeback ability.

it’s fun to play these kinds of preseason game but scheduling it on a football Saturday was a terrible idea. This game should be on TV.

Vol fan here.

Very excited to have another round of great games between our two programs. I know you all are the historic and current favorites in the SEC, but having UT bring another SEC team to national limelight is fun for our rivalry.

I mean within minutes of a post about UT, a brand new UT fan shows up. That's just bizarre that team's fan's are so obsessed with UK that they spend so much time refreshing this board. Beyond crazy.

UT has a good nucleus and will be very tough despite losing Williams, Schofield and their guard - forgot his name.

I’m still trying to figure out how this team beats Michigan State, then loses to Evansville on their home court....this team will improve before SEC play but, they looked absolutely lost on Tuesday. Hope that Calipari can get them working together as a team and fix some of the offensive issues that caused them to go away from what worked pretty well against Michigan State..

Stat to note when we play UT in Knoxville:

Under Cal, whenever UK beats UT in Knoxville they have made the Final Four.

2010: Lost, Elite 8
2011: Won, FF
2012: Won, FF
2013: Lost
2014: Never played them in Knoxville
2015: Won, FF
2016: Lost, Second Round Exit
2017: Lost, Elite 8
2018: Lost, Sweet 16
2019: Lost, Elite 8

Fluky stat, but I think it's a good indicator of how mentally tough the team is - always a tough place for win especially for Cal.

You're saying that it literally takes a final four contender for UK to win in Knoxville. I believe it.

We beat them at home. They beat us at rocky top. They get knocked out of tourney in the round of 32.

BTW UT won by 13 points. Green, McDaniels and Stewart all were in double figures but didn't help enough it seems.

UK has never won a title in year in which they lost to UT.

However, UT has been better recently than most years in the past.

I would bet a ton of money that the following will happen:

-We will beat UT handily at Rupp. Even with their best teams, they rarely win here.
-UT will beat UK in knoxville. Even with our best teams, we often lose there, and I don't think this is one of our best teams.
-We'll likely win the rubber match in SECT if we play again, though last year may have reversed some of the usual mojo.
-UT is not going away. Barnes is starting to get top talent there now. Their recruiting is now excellent (oddly enough, it was terrible when Barnes first arrived there). I don't think this is a bad thing as UT is our best SEC basketball rival and their fanbase is actually deserving of a good team (unlike some of the others like UF who don't even care).

Interesting. UT has more wins over us than anyone, and it’s not even close. They absolutely owned Joe B. He beat them twice in my 4 years at UK, 2-7 overall, both in the 77-78 season. He also won a NC that year. As your post shows when we beat them in Knoxville we’re pretty darn good.

This is spot on, respectful, and appreciated. Lots of good happening in Knoxville and it's likely not a bad thing for UK either.

Yup, I would say this is most likely scenario.

Living in TN, there's only one game I want to win more than any of them and that's UT in Knoxville. No offense to Louisville, but this is the game I would rather get.

Think it'll be interesting when they get these top recruits in next year. Barnes is a good coach, but I think he's better when he has veterans like the past few years. If you remember he had pretty solid recruiting classes at Texas and was never able to live up to expectations when he had some pretty talented freshman (KD, Augestin, Avery Bradley, Tristan Thompson, Corey Joseph, Myck Kabongo, Myles Turner).

Vol fans should temper expectations for next year.
