Every time lyles makes a play vitale says lyles de-committed Indiana . Why? There are many kids in college that change their minds.

Lyles plays for kentucky dick?.......who,cares...

Meh. Just more salt in the Whoosiers' wounds.

Did Dick go on and on about "UK and IU should pllaaay, baaaybeeeee! C'mon Cal! Pick up the phone!" tonight? I didn't hear him pull that one out.

When Vitale know something he likes to repeat it ad nauseam, kinda like crazy uncle Derwood at Thanksgiving.

You know, I don't think I heard that from him at all last night. If he didn't mention it, that's a big step forward for him.

Vitale mentions things over and over because that's all the info he's got.

For someone who has held such a high level of announcing, he's short on any worthy information.

Vitale locks for each game:

- He has to mention and compare Pitino to Cal
- He has to mention Coach K in every televised event
- Jimmy V, Jimmy V, and my book benefitting Jimmy V.
- BBN is great, but some fans are terrible....blocking their accounts online.

Vitale has as many negatives and he does good things to say.

^^^^ He is using it as support for his anti platoon platform. Bugs me as well…… Glad Cal threw a little jab about him being fired as a coach lol.

I like Vitale. More to the point, although he's been critical of UK fans in the past, he much more often brags about UK and defends UK and Calipari. The number of offenses to positive points is probably 1 to 10. Bigger picture, he'll be missed. But I agree with your last point - his voice is getting weaker. He said something last night, I think it's when he was talking this UK team in historical context and was specifically talking about IU '76, I rewound to try to fully hear what he was saying - and had to rewind and turn up the volume several times, and never did get it. Just no projection.....

Agree on this. He should not be commenting on who needs more minutes. It's as if he's trying to undermine the coach. You just don't do that.

Go back to the early days of Vitale's career, and he was very sensible in his approach. Then he developed his schtick where he began shouting everything and adding "baybeeee" at the end of every sentence. No you've got an old man without a voice, who has let the game pass him by and no longer able to perform his "act". Pitiful....

He is a fan that is trying to color commentate. It doesn't work. I think he would have been much better with a show or something like there where he could just drone on about god knows what forever. However, for a color guy he is just terrible. He used to add some flair to the game by his excitement, but even that wasn't that much. Now he just sits there and rambles about a billion off topic subjects. They just talk to talk. Rarely does he actually discuss the topic at hand and add intelligent points about the game he's watching. When was the last time you heard him say something like, "That play was drawn up beautifully. Player A set a back screen that allowed Player B to come free for an easy layup." Probably never. Instead, he's too busy talking about how this person is a great guy, or how Calipari moves a lot, or how some other game is going to be a great game, and then he'll just yell about how exciting something was right after it happens. I like excitement, but I also like to hear someone intelligently breakdown the game they are watching.

Dick Vitale did not mention Ashley Judd last night. That is a step in the right direction so I am going to give him a pass on last night's game.

Vitale is paid to talk so he wants to give his employer his money's worth. I don't know why anybody listens to him.

Dick Vitale did a good job last night. What are you going to say with a blow out like he had to cover. Get off his back. He has his bad points, but there is a lot of good points as well. What did he say bad about Kentucky last night?

This. It was his nugget on Lyles, either through previous knowledge or pre-game research. He probably didn't have too many other nuggets on him, and he's hired to talk.

Were violent cuts mentioned? Did they guard their yard? LOL. Announcers can be annoying, but at least the ones we reference are passionate about CBB... BTW Anyone know how Jimmy D is these days?

Last night before the game, down stairs next to Kentucky Korner they had the radio going taking live calls, Vitales name came up and the radio announcer said that there was a notion that UK fans didn't like Vitale notably because he was a big fan of Duke and UNC and he further stated that while that was true he also was a huge fan of UK, so he wanted a show of hands those for and those against Vitale it was 95% for and only 2 or 3 in the whole crowd raised their hand against. Before and after the game the fans lined up a long way just to get their picture made with him. I have always though he is one of the great ambassadors of college basketball and enjoy his commentaries during the game. I did think he got overboard when Tubby left but other than that have no issues with him.

Anybody that would continue to listen to that POS deserves to complain. But if you hit the mute button as I do, then the POS goes away. Easy.

I like Dick Vitale and always have. He use to get on my nerves just like the rest of you. Promoting the Jimmy V Foundation made me pay closer attention to Dick. I knew he was fired as a coach. He became a color analyst for ESPN. Sometimes he would never shut up, but that was what he was getting paid for. He was a basketball junkie living his dream and I respect that . Dick has grown older and has slowed down. I believe this could be his year to retire.

I do not why so many of you insist on listening to the national and regional talking heads doing the UK games.

Turn down the sound and listen to Leach and Pratt. Even if there is a little delay, they are behind what you are seeing on TV and you get used to it...Helluva lot better than listening to people with an agenda...and ESPN,CBS, and the SEC Network all have an agenda...and 99% of the time it is not neutral or pro UK.

TURN DOWN THE SOUND

Vitale is like Al McGuire was. A lot of schtick thrown in with analysis to liven things up. People either love it or hate it. But like McGuire, the man knows b'ball. You don't get to be a D1 head coach by not knowing what you're doing. It's just that he has an opinion and states it. The main thing I always remember about Vitale is when Tubby was hired...he went on and on about how great the recruiting was going to be in that it was a perfect match of UK and Tubby. Worked at times I guess.

You do know that the got fired by the Pistons. Reason, he was a poor coach, well he did win 36% of his games. So maybe he was pretty good. Not!

I thought that last night Vitale was somewhat reserved -- by Vitale standards.

I didn't notice him saying "Diaper Dandies", "PTP'ers", or "Dipsy Doo Dunkeroo!"

So you are saying that he is entitled to his opinion but we are not?
