Just because his opinion of Lawrence differs from yours doesn’t make it “patently false”. 2 strikingly different viewpoints but doesn’t mean anyone’s lying.

Lawrence is consistently rated a top 10 college town in America alongside Chapel Hill.

Now Durham, that is the sh**hole.

I hope he is fine, but gosh where there is smoke there is likely fire. Kansas burning. I believe history tells us it’s happened before. I’d say I feel bad for them having survived the late 80’s still and always a UK fan, but that would be less than the truth. I hope they go down in flames.

Will Hurt really attend this poor excuse for a Blueblood program?

LoL, Lawrence? I did a quick search of the top rated college towns. Manhattan was on it. Lawrence wasn’t. Care to guess which town topped the list?

Yeah - I’ve been to Lawrence. It’s not anywhere any top rated anything. I will hope to never go back.

I loathe Kansas as much as the next guy but this is patently false. Lawrence is a beautiful college town. The people are friendly, it’s 25 minutes from Kansas City, and Allen Fieldhouse is one of the architectural gems of our game. Plus KU has more history, from a foundational perspective, than any program in the sport (Naismith, Phog, Chamberlain, Rupp, Smith, Brown, Calipari, Manning, Williams, Self, etc.)

It really shouldn’t come a surprise when Duke, UNC, UK, or KU have success. These are the Blue Bloods. Those four stand above the rest. This isn’t college football where there are seven to ten Blue Bloods. In hoops you have the big four and that’s it (UCLA is about as relevant as Bill Walton these days).

Hmm ....an unknown guy who's barely ever posted in five years being registered here suddenly shows up just to vociferously tell us how wonderful KU and Lawrence are?

Pardon me for being skeptical that you actually "loathe Kansas just a much as the next guy", as you claim.

You have your opinion, I have mine. I found Lawrence to be generally not nice and have almost next to nothing to do. Doesn’t even come close to Lex. While I did not visit Allen Fieldhouse, which I am sure is cool, I can think of 100 college campuses I’d rather visit. My job took me to almost every major college in every state. I’m not just making this up.

You know, at first, I didn’t think much of your post. Then, I saw UK90’s post and looked at your username again. You see, every once in a while I visit the Phog because well, who doesn’t love a good dumpster fire? There is a poster over there with an very similar name as yours, who has thousands of posts and is clearly a KU fan. In fact, it’s only one letter off and you both post in a very holier than thou way.

Welcome to our board. Enjoy your stay. We are pretty nice as long as you mind your manners. You don’t have to pretend to be someone you’re not, though if I were a KU fan it would probably be really tempting.

.

"Consistently" by whom? I just googled best college towns out of curiosity and Lawrence appears NOWHERE near that on any of the links I looked at (in fact, not even top 30). For example:

Nice detective work. Always fun when these phonies get busted.

As you said, opposing fans should be welcome and wanted here, IF they're honest about who they are. But don't dishonestly pretend to be a UK fan, as this Kansas knucklehead did.

If he truly has a family emergency, I hope everything works out for him. Personally, I think he knows the season is lost, wants to avoid injury and is preparing for the draft.

Maybe someone should let his buddies on the Kansas board know how he's over here posting about how he "loathes Kansas."

I’m just hoping he doesn’t have a family member dying or something that serious going on.

I don’t wish that stuff happening to anyone. I’ve dealt with too much of that the last 8 years.

Yes, I agree, who knows what it really could be, it would be a shame if this were the case, or some kind of major medical issue for the young man.

But the bottom line for KU is that they really are struggling to just get thru in a season where they were in everyone's top 3 to begin the season. It's a MASSIVE crash and burn for the expectations they had to begin the year!

It's felt like this was permanent since the beginning. I doubt we'll ever know, but you hope it's just that the guy was in Self's doghouse and not family troubles or whatever. Doesn't seem like anyone expected him back.

Quick question.

Do you speak Spanish?

I’m learning it and feel like it’s hurting my ability to make vowel sounds in English?

Normal? IQ too low for this?

What’s the deal? It’s effecting bigger English words that were never a problem before.

I want to speak Spanish but don’t want to lose English.

I'm conversational, but way too out of practice to be fluent. I learned in high school and took a couple classes in college, but nothing close to being any kind of expert.

Never had any issues like that, but our brains are basically hard-wired for language, and the longer you go with just one, the more hard-wired yours becomes to that one. A toddler could learn several languages easily, all at once.

You're having to fight more programming, so to speak, and be conscious of the new things you're learning. You aren't comfortable enough yet to switch back and forth smoothly. It's basically muscle memory for your brain. You won't lose English, it's too permanent.

Though you may want to get input from someone who knows a whole lot more than I do.

Chapel Hill > Lexington > Lawrence > Durham, if you ask me. But I would rate the first three as top 10 college towns.

Alas, that’s not the case, but I could see where you would get that. My handle is an homage to EDF, the most notorious troll on the Phog. I have stated this before on this Board.

No long-standing allegiance, but I have been a UK fan since 2010 (I’ve liked JVC since the days of DeJuan Wagner, and kind of followed him to UK the way people follow LeBron), despise Duke, and have less and less respect for KU these days. I follow the Blueblood boards because they are the most active. Especially this one.

And I would stand by my claim about Lawrence. Manhattan is really nice too, but more remote. If you’re ever cruising down I-70 to Colorado it’s worth a stop for lunch in either town. There’s probably no other reason you would be in Kansas.

I’ve been to Chapel Hill. Nice place, but bored out of my mind. And the Dean Dome isn’t worth a damn. You’re overrating Chapel Hill.

Actually, my last job took me to almost every major university in the country and most of Canada. I went to Lawrence numerous times. I am pretty straightforward, so I’m just going to put it like it is, Lawrence is a ********. It isn’t anywhere close to most college towns in the country. I can think of 50 other colleges and towns I would rather revisit. I’m not being biased here. It is a ******* ****** town.

KU is going on a run this tournament and will make it all the way to the round of 32. This will be Self's goodbye gift to the fans.
