He ran a 1-3-1 against sc and it was terrible. This crew can run a 2-3 with bibby and wiggins length.

i cant help but think about Oregon last year.

Matharu is the new Itty Bitty and my hero! Vic did that for two reasons. Foul trouble and he wanted to see how his young players would handle it. The man is smart.

ETA: Vic played 12 players tonight. He is looking at the long haul.

I knew they were in trouble when the coat finally came off. Took way longer than it usually does but good gosh they finally got the message in the 4th quarter.

Likely because teams don’t game plan for it when they play us. We would probably be national champs if he had figured this out 3 years ago. This probably won’t be very popular, but it’s true nonetheless.

True. I don't know what the Vandy coach said to Vic after the game that he laughed at, but I figure it was something like, "what the hell with the zone, Vic? We didn't practice for that."

The problem with that Notre Dame game to me was that we WERE shutting them down defensively with that Holmes/Danberry combo and then just abandoned it. They scored 3 points in the second quarter. We had a 15 point lead in the 3rd quarter and he didn’t put Jazz back in until they had come all the way back to tie.

There are a ton of what ifs about that game. I think Vic would tell you himself that he let it get away from him and that second half was not a great coaching job by him. Then of course you’ve got the no call on Morgan that still pisses me off, and the shot that beat us was a prayer that Vivians couldn’t have defended any better.

I don't consider it a positive to have a coach that refuses to ever switch defense no matter what. Its much easier as an opposing team to scheme against the same defense played the same way every trip down the court. Even if you want man-to-man to be your primary defense you have to have some zone in your arsenal to trip folks up at times. Howland could learn that lesson as well.
