Key Details of the Realignment
- Current Alignment: Through the end of the 2026–2027 academic year, the Richmond High School of the Arts will continue competing in the same District.
- The Switch: In the newly approved cycle, Petersburg High School and Richmond High School for the Arts (RHSA) will switch classification places. Petersburg moves up to Class 4, Region B, while RHSA moves down to Class 3, Region A.
- Region Competitors: By moving to Region 3A, RHSA will share a region with local athletic programs such as New Kent, York, Maggie Walker GS, Patrick Henry (Ashland), Mechanicsville, Hopewell and Colonial Heights. They will also become reaquainted with two old Tidewater friends from the past: I.C. Norcom and B.T. Washington.
