If true, they didn't waste any time.
A big risk in my opinion to hire someone without any head coaching experience. Will Muschamp comes to mind.

I think they already said he is going to USC with Riley.I wonder if Grinch stays...
Venebales has been around long enough that he has the experience to be a head coach…A big risk in my opinion to hire someone without any head coaching experience. Will Muschamp comes to mind.
ROTFLMAO RollingLaughChad Morris for OC would be his first pick
they are tightlipped about why he left.So how is the press conference going? Or was this another made-up rumor by a random anonymous Twitter account?
I wonder if Grinch stays...
Must be that Youngstown mentality.they are tightlipped about why he left.
someone tried to get the lsu rumor addressed and joe c cut off bob quickly with some adspeak.
bob is still pretty snippy about certain things.
kinda funny, but if you guys think bo was bitchy, bob stoops can cut you off at the knees.
for no apparent reason...
Four of the most successful coaches in OU history had no prior head coaching experience when they were hired at Oklahoma: Bud Wilkinson, Barry Switzer, Bob Stoops and Lincoln Riley.A big risk in my opinion to hire someone without any head coaching experience. Will Muschamp comes to mind.
I'm a little surprised they didn't go after Mark Stoops after what he's done with that perennial doormat Kentucky this year.listening to bob being announced as interim now...i havent heard his name, yet.
local radio mentioned the odd feeling it could create for the university/bob if it didn’t work out. even though bob’s covering for them it’s been a little strained. but they’re not crossing him offI'm a little surprised they didn't go after Mark Stoops after what he's done with that perennial doormat Kentucky this year.
Well, he coached against two SEC teams this year (Georgia and South Carolina), and his defense gave up a total of 3 points in 8 quarters of play.highly doubt Venables is a guy that can stand in the fire of the SEC.
doesn't mean he's going to be a good HC. plays a cupcake schedule in the ACC with a massive talent advantage.Well, he coached against two SEC teams this year (Georgia and South Carolina), and his defense gave up a total of 3 points in 8 quarters of play.
Oklahoma gets really good players seemingly regardless of coaching staff and Venables will probably have OU's defense doing well...just in time for the SEC schedule by the way...doesn't mean he's going to be a good HC. plays a cupcake schedule in the ACC with a massive talent advantage.
we just saw an SEC coach get fired for going .500 after making an NY6 bowl in the previous 3 years.
I'll happily eat crow if it comes to that, but Venables is not a good hire to try and run the table against the SEC. 8-4 ceiling.
they've have tremendous continuity in coaching staff the last 20 years, and when Lincoln Riley took over (he arguably saved them from going the direction Gary Patterson's TCU teams have), it was essentially the same staff minus Stoops. the reason OU fans are crying especially hard is because they haven't faced a major blowup like this since the 90s and now all their top recruits are decommitting, and both their QBs transferring,Oklahoma gets really good players seemingly regardless of coaching staff and Venables will probably have OU's defense doing well...just in time for the SEC schedule by the way...
Oklahoma sure does seem to know what they're doing up top in my opinion, like a damn symphony...while Nebraska has been a one man band with Parkinsons who's swallowed a bottle of yellow jackets washing it all down with a case of Monsters.
He needs to pick himself up a good Oline coach and ST coordinator and he'll be fine.
Envy inducing really.
guy i work with said riley has been going downhill for several years.also, "fine" is not enough for OU fans. a 2 loss season is total failure to them. despite not winning a National Championship the past 2 decades, they fully expect to be the best team in the country each year.
Almost feels like Dejavu when Nebraska entered the B1G... Still kind of relevent with a shake up in coaching going into a division that wanted NU but was ready to throttle us to make us humble and hence the slide... I don't wish ill will on any team but many of the historic "Blue Bloods" haven't had it easy as of late and I have to wonder if it's OU's turn for a whilell that they have a dumpster fire of a coaching staff and are getting ready to be routinely blown out in the SEC.
exactly, and many were calling for Stoops to be fired after he went 8-4.guy i work with said riley has been going downhill for several years.
and this is a common comment i hear from ou fans.
riley wins at an 84% rate.
and i thought we've been petulant.
That's how I look at it. He's certainly had plenty of opportunities to be a head coach, but seems risk adverse to the proposition. I don't think I want a guy who's been reluctant to be the guy all of these years.A big risk in my opinion to hire someone without any head coaching experience. Will Muschamp comes to mind.
Mark Stoops would be a good choice.I'm a little surprised they didn't go after Mark Stoops after what he's done with that perennial doormat Kentucky this year.
Which two QBs have transferred? Rattler is the only one and that was a known fact the minute he got benchedand both their QBs transferring,
Williams going to sc.Which two QBs have transferred? Rattler is the only one and that was a known fact the minute he got benched
That's pure speculation and there is nothing out there that says this is happening.Williams going to sc.
