Didn't they have us with a surprisingly low over/under on wins this year? They aren't looking so silly right now.

If we have decent QB play we're 3-0. Not slamming Lee, but he needs to improve fast.
I feel for the kid, but I agree 100%. I really think we need to make the jump and play Gebbia. He's the future and the future isn't coming at this rate.

You really want to put Gebbia behind that offensive line and then expect to get different results?

I think he would do much better. Lee has no awareness, never checks, can't see where pressure is coming from, can't make hot reads. Basically has no awareness at all. If Gebbia can do those things, he will be a huge upgrade.

The OL didnt play well today, but Lee is making them look bad, just as much as they are making him look bad.

Just a guess, I don't think Riley and his wife came here for a rebuild...they came here to take one last shot. I think if they have a lame season that he will "retire"
Best case, imo. He could even play the good ambassador.

You make some interesting points but Gebbia wouldn't be able to withstand the physical pounding he would take at this point in his career. He would get split in half considering his current slight build.

I did think about that and it's a real possibility. But I see other young, skinny QB's slinging it around the field and leading their teams and wonder why we can't do it too.

Hmmmm...most of the news about Lee was crazy positive. I am guessing it had more to do with Mediocre Mike

When you listen to local beat writers and this board, what'd you expect??? There's a reason he came here. What other offers did he have. Serious offers. And no Bama didn't offer. What's sadder is our OL has a SR and 4 redshirt JRs. And not much backing it up. Same with WR and TE. 1 average WR is too easy to cover these days. Too much speed.

You might be on to something, I really think MR wanted a last chance to "win big". If its obvious after this season that thats not in the near future he may decide he's done.

This is another reason it's tough to see this
Riley really is a good guy and would make a great ambassador type.
But you gotta win.
He would be great in the athletic department doing PR stuff, but obvously, it's not working as HC of a big time program.

Think about it...His wife loves Oregon and would love to be back there. If this season sucks you know she will chat with him about it and really what reason would there be to stay? Money? Sure, but he is loaded (I think) and he will still get a buyout if he "retires".

Maybe Oregon State would hire him back. They got blown out again today.

I remember a skinny Colt McCoy slinging it around not too long ago at Texas and having success.

Yep, would not surprise me if M.R. and the Mrs. would be ready to be full-time grandpa and grandma if this dream isn't taking shape after year three.

I don't gamble. Know very little about it and don't do it. However, what I understand about gambling is that the line is set to pull in the most action. The line shifts to maintain the highest action. So, effectively, it is the betters that move the line and are the ones that make Vegas look so good. Vegas just sets the opening line.

That said, I too am amazed that they always seem to be very close in their picks.

I caught a bit of Payne Insider on Nick Bake's show late this last week and he talked about the line dropping on the Nebraska game. He called Lee a "practice warrior" or something and mentioned how he couldn't elevate the players at Tulane and it is showing here now. Sucks he might be right....
