Vedral looked better than I expected...

Nice to see him get some snaps. He looked alot more comfortable than last year. Mind you it was against a gassed D (and probably quite a few 2nd stringers, didn't look that closely), but I actually thought he looked more comfortable and confident back there than AMart has lately (not saying he's better, mind you). AMart has seemed slow and/or hesitant by his standards as of late.

I'm stoked for Vedral but the delivery on some of those passes on the move were a little cringe. A better team picks some of those off. Let's hope 2AM stays healthy.

He looked horrible last year because he was not getting reps at practice. They thought he wasnt getting his eligibility.

I thought he played well in the spring game.

I hate that when he moves from the pocket to buy time that he gets further away from the LOS. There was one time that he was 15 yards from the LOS.

3 things why I don’t like that. 1- he is moving backward so he has to throw it further, by going backward it takes longer to set his feet so he gives the defender time to make up ground and lastly, if no one is still open and he gets sacked, he increases the yardage lost.

Not a big deal unless Martinez goes down.

I remember that play too. I thought “holy crap, why is he running backwards?”.

Vedral is more decisive in his decision making but just not as gifted as AM. It feels like AM is trying too hard if that makes sense. He needs to relax and settle down a bit.

That's a good way of putting it. I feel like hes thinking too much instead of being instinctive.

Agreed. AMart was loose and letting it rip last year and this year seems to be tight, hesitant and often confused. He's really frustrated with himself you can tell.

I think they have loaded him up mentally and it has option routes. He certainly isn't make quick reads, this might trust, or he might be overwhelmed with the decision making

absolutely, look at the plays that are 1 read and go, only 1 time did he completely misread and he at least looked comfortable on said plays. scored 1 running td and picked up a huge 1st down on single read zone plays.

I noticed that as well! They need to nip that in the butt

Agree, I think he looked quicker and more decisive than Adrian. But yes playing refreshed against a tired D is hard to judge for sure.

Is it possible he is just a "slow blinker" Last year Frost said they kept things very basic and simple on offense. Few options and read for Martinez. He seemed to be much more decisive and dynamic last year. This year Frost said Martinez now has the whole playbook at his disposable, and he looks slow and indecisive. Is it possible he just doesn't have the natural abilities mentally to be able to process all that added information. When he can use his natural athletic abilities and just ball, he seems to perform much better vs when he has to think, process, and make multiple reads.
I even noticed last night when running. Last year he seems to just go. This year is looks like he is processing and looking for that perfect area to run. Which makes him look slow and cumbersome.

I don't know that it is so much a lack of ability. It may just be he's not comfortable enough yet to be acting on instinct rather than having to think. Basically, the game hasn't "slowed down" for him yet. At least that's my hope.

This is pretty much my opinion as well. He's overloaded with info and is thinking more like a coach than like a competitor. This offense is extremely complex and it's taking him time to process during each play. I said in another thread that Frost should limit the number of postsnap option plays for him and focus on more design and presnap option plays. Gotta slow the game down for him.

I was surprised when he got the 2nd spot for this year, after what I'd seen last year. But I was also pleasantly surprised at his play yesterday. Glad to see him get a good chunk of game reps. He must have loved scoring that TD in a Big Red uniform!

That should depend on the routes being run right? For longer developing routes it works such as that pretty play to Chase.

would like to see a few more balls like the one near the end of the 1st half ... need to give our receivers a chance in one on one situations to come down with the ball or draw a PI

I thought AM looked a lot more confident after the first quarter. He started out the game very timid and was way off on what should be very easy passes. He finally started airing it out a little bit and he seemed to gain a lot more confidence.

He wasn't always accurate on the deeper passes, but I'm glad he actually started making those throws this game. He's not going to hit every pass and that's ok. He just needs to trust himself and that he's making the right reads and let the ball go. The more he does that, the better he will get and the more accurate he will be on those throws.

Another thing he needs to do is understand that it's ok to hit the check down pass. Now you don't want do it every time but if it's there, hit it and pick up 7 or 8 yards. Not every pass has to be 30 yards down the field.

Vedral completed 70% of his passes as a freshman backup at UCF. He has more experience in this offense than anybody. Not sure why people are surprised that he's a very capable backup.

Why did we run such a fast paced no huddle offense when Vedral was in as compared to when Martinez is in?
It seems we've slowed the pace for Martinez this year as compared to last and I think that's why he seems to be over thinking everything.
Dude is dynamic in the 2 minute drill.

The only one's that know that offense better than him are the coaches and that's fact.

I agree fully with a lot of comments on here about AM. I think Verduzco may have pushed too far in his quest for the 'Robo-QB'. It's having and adverse effect.

First I was happy to see that the entire second team came on as a unit. Second I have to say that Noah looked like he knew the offense and had spent three years in it for the first time. Hope he gets more time and also that #7 gets in some games as well.
