Cards strike for a run in the first. Just pick up another run in the second. Brown on the bump for the Cards. Still wondering about Detmers’ status.

Tech tied it with 2 unearned runs after an error and a 2 out 2 run homer. Now the Cards have responded with 3 so far here in the 3rd. Great hitting against Marciano, who had been very stingy so far this year!

Klein got hit on the hand/wrist/forearm. EKJr replaces his at DH and hits a HR! VaTech with a pitching change.

I know the ACC is the wine and cheese conference, but the Va. Tech pitcher getting a manicure on the field is a bit much.

And now, a cree pass followed by another Tackett 2-run hr. That is three in 2 days by him.

Cards leaving too many ducks on the pond. Stranding too many runners in scoring position is a recipe for losing. CDM just echoed my comments 😎
Our pitchers are doing pretty good- need to minimize walks; that is what has hurt UofL yesterday and today.

Going to be tough to win just one game this weekend when you are walking batters and not hitting the ball hard. 🙁

More runners left on base (bases loaded). EKJr - just hacks at the plate - he’s shows zero difference discipline.

What a great AB by Moore to get the single and drive in our 10th run! Down 0-2 in the count, was able to foul off 2 pitches and take 3 others to get the count to 3-2.

Bats woke up. Still too many free passes from our pitchers. Cannot understand CDM’s stance on staying with EKJ.

The answer: 2024: Played in 49 games, making 38 starts (23 in CF, 5 in LF, 5 in RF, 5 at DH) ... Finished with a .322 average, seven doubles and 14 homers ... Drove in 43 and scored 33 runs while going 8-for-12 in stolen bases ... Led the Cardinals in home runs and RBIs .

I'm alright if he starts to produce. We had to wait a long time last season for him to get going. I gotta believe the leash is shorter.

I am totally aware of what he did last year. It also took home quite a while to start making that big impact at the plate. He is a hacker. When he connects he generally hits the ball hard. Problem is he missing more than he connects. He is below average with breaking balls. If we need to advance a runner or need a clutch hit I can think if several others I’d rather see at the plate. And, to be clear, I don’t dislike EKJ. I do think he has underperforms for most of his career. I think he is very athletic but lacks baseball IQ.

You’re a baseball manager. One of your best ball players is struggling at the plate. Do you bench him and hope his woes get fixed while on the pine, or do you keep the faith, build his confidence, and let him work things out during game action? Also, your team is #16 in the county while you work through this

We got a live lineup. Hot hitters. One hitter having trouble isn’t a killer.

Mac knows best; if he can be patient with EK Jr., I am sure that I can as well.

Yeah, but the message is clear. He's not chucking away the season waiting on him. The leash is shorter and the list of players gnawing at King's heels is longer this go around.

Exactly. He had a big HR yesterday. His other at bats were sort of trash. EKJ is not a better hitter than the 3 OFs in front of him. A spot start here and there, sure. Same as Lippe.

I'll check back later. Heading over to watch basketball.
Maybe the other cameraman will sober up by then.
