....here we have a 6'9" rail thin NBA power forward prospect with no ball handling ability, below average offensive skills, and average to below average rebounding skills. Yeah, he's a shot blocking specialist at the college level. I just can't see an NBA team taking him with one of their two picks. If Roberts and Rhodes couldn't hack it, I don't see how Varnado can.

He projects into just outside the lottery in 2010. That also assumes his offensive game continues to get better. From his frehsmens year up to now, it really is impressive how much better he's gotten, and those that think they can tell the future assume he'll continue that trend.

If he flatlines from here on out, he's still a second round pick in 2010.

JV owned Patterson last year... Thats either going to fire PP up, or make him timid as hell... We'll probably find out pretty quickly.

We'll see. I don't see it. He has to improve a lot to get there. Like you said, some of these projections are based upon assumptions.

I'm not even saying I really agree with it or not. It's just what's out there, and for the most part, those places get pretty close on the top 20 picks.

I think he's got a better shot than Rhodes or Roberts. He's much quicker, and a much better defender (obvious statement of the century). While people like to pan on defense in the NBA, it really is the quickest way for a rookie to find the floor and for an average player to find a career. In that regard, I think he'd be a safe first round pick for somebody next year. If you get a guy... say 25th overall... who can come in and give you 15-20 minutes his rookie year, grab 5-8 boards and block a few shots, then that's a pretty damn good pick. Then you turn your offensive coaches loose on him and see what they can do.

1. Jarvis could make his stock rise with some big performances down the stretch (like tonight on national TV)
2. College kids dont always make a sound decision on when to declare- no telling who gets in their ear.
3. NBA GM's have traditionally made some dumb draft choices-especially on potential
4. I could easily see a GM wanting Jarvis to forego his Sr season so that they can bring him in, get him a dietician to add weight, a personal trainer to build bulk, and mold him into the player they need.

Yes, a few great games against some currently considered NBA prospects will obviously create a push for him to possibly go this year. One could say the exact same thing about damn near any player in the country.

but without any meat or a hook shot (any solid offense) development, no draft this year for Jarvis. I'm not saying he will know that though.
