I'm planning to go watch the cats at Vandy next weekend. I've never been to a game there. I've heard the top section seats on the sides are actually better than the middle because the middle is partially blocked? Anyone been to a game there and have some tips for where I should get seats? Thanks!

I went in 16 and had the worse seats I've ever had for a sporting event. We were behind one of the baskets, but it was like being in a concrete box. The setup made it so you couldn't hear the PA announcer and they had no screens within view. It was an awful set up, and it was tough to even see the scoreboard. No idea on other seats, but don't bother with anything behind the nets.

You've been told correctly. The sight-line from that middle level on the sides is really wierd. You can see most of the court BUT you cannot see the roof of the arena, the section beneath you, OR the scoreboards. The experience is kind of like how when you would watch an old movie on cable and they would show in in the 'letterbox' format.

They have changed the baskets this year. Gone are the wires that went up from the top of the goals to the ceiling, and the weird double posts. It looks like a normal basket now.

When I opened this thread I assumed it was going to be asking why the Vandy benches are on the ends.

This would then be followed by the annual bizarre take (with absolutely no evidence BTW) by the lone Vandy fan that Rupp “forced” them to do it that way and after nearly 40 years Vanderbilt is irrevocably still under the Baron’s control in perpetuity. I guess we still have that to look forward to this coming week.

notelvis is in reference to Row 9 and higher:

"You can see most of the court BUT you cannot see the roof of the arena, the section beneath you, OR the scoreboards."

The closer rows of seating are great, but when you get further back you cannot see the Jumbotron and have to rely on the side and end scoreboards. There was no Jumbotron when the place was built 65+ years ago as a multi-purpose auditorium.

The ticket office changed its pricing either this season or last to give a break to those sitting in the upper rows of the second level.
