I am surprised not much talk about what we saw in Vanderbilt. He was/is rusty and it will take a while to get him going but I was very impressed by some of what I saw. He looks like an exceptional talent that has the ability to make others much better. He could be a major difference maker and dare I saw perhaps he can play guard?

Been alot of talk about it but it's been buried in the zion talk. I think by the end of the year the whole nation is going to be shocked at how good JV is. Just a total stat sheet stuffer. He did play pg for a few min so yes he can play guard at 6ft9 220 with a 7ft1 wingspan he can play one thru 5

I'd rather see him out there as a guard than Calipari.

If he could shoot he would be a top 5 pick.

Ben Simmons couldn't shoot at all and was ranked consensus one and the number one draft pick. Other than being an inch taller I don't see how Simmons is any better than JV. Hell based on what Scouts saw at the all star practices was an improved shot but i think the scouts want to see it against college competition

I think JV is a better ball handler and passer than BS. Simmons shot was awful.

He played tight and is rusty, that ends today at home.
But I'll admit this, he's going to be better than I thought. He plays hard and strong and dude can flat handle the ball. Very strong rebounder too.
I have been trying to temper everyone's expectations of this guy for months, but I'm going to start siding with those people if he loosens up and performs like I think he will.
But I need to see more before I can really judge him. He definitely looked good the other night, rusty, but really good.

We may need him there.. I'd be fine with it. Use this time to build and toy with different lineups.

Also, for the lesser informed posters.. yes, JV will have more rust today, he will not put up Westbrook numbers...

I'm going to guess 12/7r/5a.. something like that.

I was thoroughly impressed by the young man! He was no doubt impressive. One small observation. His skill set is so elite, I wish he could shoot his fts a little better. He sees the game on a different level. He's ahead of the curve----and is going to draw a lot of fouls. Make the opponent pay. Hit fts.. This can be said for a lot of uK's players though. Love the kids potential

Yeah, other than Simmons being a little bigger and stronger they are pretty much the same player. It appears Vanderbilt may even be faster.

He’ll get a huge pop at Rupp today when he checks into the game.

I thought his passing ability was incredible. Crisp/Fast on point passes

There has been quite a bit of talk about him this week on the board. It's just died down as the week has progressed. But I agree, despite the fact he's rusty from the long break and he was seeing his first action in D1, he looked really good against South Carolina. When you consider everything, including the hostile road environment, his play was very impressive. I have a feeling it won't be long until it becomes impossible to keep him off the floor.

His shooting isn't great but that's not what he gives you. He is an elite defender. He is an excellent, unselfish playmaker. He can handle the ball. He can rebound. He hustles. He will create points for himself and his teammates. He can block shots too. He's a guy who can go for 12pts, 10reb, 5ast, 2blks, and 2 steals. He's probably the only triple double threat on the team.

I really like JV's potential too. But, I think I'm probably a little more pessimistic about how quickly he becomes what many on here are projecting him to be RIGHT NOW. I'm not sure some of what's being said is fair or realistic just yet.

Since Cal said he was going to give him more run in practice I would think that we will see a different player tonight......in a good way.
